Bringing the Tropics to your Bedroom

Ranked #56,514 in Home & Garden, #937,236 overall

All too often the master bedroom is the last room in the house to get some tender loving care. As a result it frequently becomes a depositing ground for piles of laundry, mail, unfinished projects, extra furniture along with other paraphernalia. If you think about it, the master bedroom is really the first room, maybe after the bathroom and the kitchen, that you should decorate. It is where you go to recharge your battery, and when it is stuffed to the gills with clutter, not only can you not relax in it, but it is also a source of embarrassment. So instead of having to close your bedroom door whenever a guest is in your house, take a minute to decorate your master bedroom, and find a place for all of that homeless stuff that is covering the floor in there now. Start by selecting a theme that speaks to your soul, and as you can begin to picture your new bedroom, it will be easy to bring it to fruition.

Add Tropical Birds to the Walls

Try to find a relaxing atmosphere as the inspiration for your bedroom. A tropical theme works well, because it has a beautiful color palette and you can have a lot of fun with it. Colorful, island birds with vividly colored plumage make a beautiful subject for your wall art. Choose a piece of metal wall art for your bedroom of a macaw, cockatoo or parrot, and use it as the inspiration for your room; iron tree wall art in a palm tree design is a nice accompaniment. It will offer you a vibrant array of colors to use throughout your bedroom design, and it will add dimension and color to your walls as well. You can find a great selection of tropical wall art available online, and you can create a focal wall using this art as well. Select several hand painted pieces of tropical wall art to create a focal point on the wall above your bed. Or you may prefer to hang a single, extra large wall art to create interest on your bedroom wall.

Let Butterflies Help with the Curtains

Another great subject matter for bedroom inspiration are butterflies. You can use them in tandem with a tropical theme or on their own. You can use a large metal butterfly sculpture as a window topper to add drama to your window treatment. Then add attractive metal pullbacks so you can open your curtains. You can add a few single butterflies cascading from the top of the window, and you can connect two butterfly windows with a few stray butterflies in between them.

Add Substance to your Walls with Trees

Another great way to evoke a tropical feeling in your bedroom is to reference palm trees. The palm tree is the quintessential symbol of the tropics. You can create a focal wall in your bedroom by hanging a large palm tree inspired piece of metal wall art in between two windows. You can add further dimension to the wall by mounting several wall planters and then fill them with colorful tropical foliage and flowers. You can fill them with real plants, or you can use silk flowers to create this colorful focal that offers layers of interest and texture.

Have Some Fun with a Pink Flamingo

For a room that is a little more flamboyant, you can recall the pink flamingos of the fifties. Typically found on a lawn, the flamingos are staging a comeback. However, instead of perching in the middle of a manicured lawn, this time they are coming into the house. Pink flamingos depicted in metal wall art are a popular way to bring a bright accent into your tropical bedroom, especially if you are using pink in your design. Add a couple of candle sconces on either side, and you can set your bedroom aglow for your next romantic evening. To further the tropical theme, find pink candles in a hibiscus or tropical flower scent.

While these are just some ideas for reclaiming your bedroom sanctuary as your own, there are many of way to create a peaceful and relaxing place to recharge. As you are creating your design, remember metal wall art is one of the easiest and quickest ways to add interest and dimension to your walls.
