Multi-Platinum Brooke Fraser's New CD "Albertine"
24 year old Brooke Fraser is a pop phenomenon in New Zealand and Australia where sales of her latest album, 'Albertine' and debut 'What To Do With Daylight' have together sold over 225,000 units. Now WatchfireMusic.com welcomes Brooke to the Watchfire Family of Inspirational Artists music.
Albertine is the 2007 sophomore album from Brooke Fraser, one of New Zealand's great young singer/songwriter's. Recorded in LA with producer Marshall Altman, engineer Joe Zook and a stellar line-up of the world's finest musicians, Albertine delivers 12 gorgeous gems stamped with an air of new found maturity and worldliness.
Much of the inspiration for the album came after a 2005 trip to Rwanda when she met Albertine, a young orphan girl who was heroically saved from genocide by a fellow Rwandan. Brooke stated, "Albertine is alive today because of the selfless, sacrificial love of another. Funny thing is, so am I [referring to Jesus]. And I know I want to know what it's like to love other people like that, so have decided to spend my whole life on the experiment."
Her solo album songs appeal just as much to fans of mainstream artists like Sarah McLachlan, Ingrid Michaelson and KT Tunstall. Featuring the singles 'Shadowfeet', 'Deciphering Me', 'Albertine' and 'C.S. Lewis Song' , this is immaculately crafted pop that will stand the test of time for all the right reasons.

More about Brooke Fraser and "Albertine"
Brooke Fraser as a singer/songwriter from New Zealand...
Almost everyone in New Zealand knows Brooke Fraser as a singer/songwriter from Wellington whose debut album What To Do With Daylight catapulted her into the charts with four number one radio hits and sales exceeding seven times platinum. Her second album Albertine is Brooke Fraser three years on from that - and we're not afraid to say that you can hear the difference.
Albertine is the sound of Brooke having toured the world with her songs, playing shows as far afield as Japan, the USA and UK as well as her newly adopted home of Australia, where she relocated in 2004. It's the sound of her blossoming love affair with Africa (the album is named for an orphan in Rwanda with whom Brooke has a special bond), of passion for justice, authenticity and faith, and of hanging at her down-under base camp absorbing, reading, watching, talking, mulling over these things.
Praise for Albertine
"Albertine, is very likely to put [Brooke] on the map here in the States%u2026 you might hear hints of Chantal Kreviazuk or another Down Under artist, Natalie Imbruglia. But Fraser has the kind of songs that should have her surpassing both of those names in global popularity-if not now, then definitely soon."

Albertine Song Lyrics
Brooke met Albertine an orphan in Rwanda, and this is what her heart told her
I am sitting still
I think of Angelique
Her mother's voice over me
And the bullets in the wall where it fell silent
And on a thousandth hill
I think of Albertine
There in her eyes what I don't see
With my own
Rwanda
CHORUS
Now that I have seen
I am responsible
Faith without deeds is dead
Now that I have held you
In my own arms
I cannot let go 'til you are
In my own arms
I cannot let go 'til you are
I am on a plane
Across a distant sea
But I carry you in me
And in the dust on, the dust on my feet
Rwanda
CHORUS
Bridge
And I'll tell the world
I will tell them where I've been
I will keep my word
I will tell them, Albertine
CHORUS
I am on a stage
A thousand eyes on me
I will tell them, Albertine
I will tell them, Albertine
