The Good, the bad, and the ugly...

Build Your Own Hovercraft.... You know you secretly want to ;)

Ok people, as complex and confusing as it may seem to build your own hovercraft, it is surprisingly simple and affordable for all but the most challenged of people, i'm guessing that is not you though so you have no excuse not to make this work. :)

In all seriousness though, most of what you need to build a hovercraft can be found around your home, and at your local hardware store for a very affordable price. As for the how of building your own hovercraft, well once you acquire the right instructions and have the right guidance then it is only a matter of time until you have a full working hovercraft, pretty cool eh!

The only way this grand plan can fail is through lack of action, taking the first step is usually the hardest but once you have the right information and the right equipment you'll be as good as gold. :)
So what are you waiting for, get into it! For most people it takes a day or two from start to finish, one weekend! Not a bad use of your time at all!

Basic Bits and Pieces Needed to Build Your Own Hovercraft

Prepare for rising sealevels....Build Your own Hovercraft :P

Well, if you're still reading then i'll assume that you have some interest in building your very own hovercraft, good for you! :D

A hovercraft may look confusing and the idea of building one may be downright frightening for some people but fear not as it is surprisingly simple and easy once you break the different components down. A hovercraft has four main sections to it that ...well... make it a hovercraft!

1. Fan System - Basically what is used to pump the air into your hovercraft and keep it floating. You can use a leaf blower or a simple household vacuum, i'm sure everyone has one of these floating round their place somewhere. (Pun intended, hehe).

2. Platform - This is what flattens down your skirt ( the giant balloon full of air underneath your hovercraft) giving it shape and provides somewhere for you to sit/stand. This can at a very basic level be a piece of plywood or fibreglass, easilly acquired from unguarded construction sites(hehe, not condoning this at all though).

3. Skirt - As mentioned above, is like a giant baloon that is flattened beneath your platform. It is the cushion between you and the earth and what gives hovercrafts their ability to glide along the ground.

4. Propulsion - The system that pushes your hovercraft along, and allows you to steer yourself...without it you would have nothing but a cushion of air. You can use excess air pressure from the fan system or a second fan to propell yourself along, and a rudder some some simple steering bars are enough to give you steering.

Hey presto there is your hovercraft! As you can see the resources are very easy to acquire, however you must ensure that you have the right guide to constructing it or else you will have nothing more than a big mess!

**Whilst i have found many free guides to building a hovercraft online most of them have been fairly poor, unclear, inaccurate and in many cases just plain incorrect. I've generally found that spending a small ammount of money on a guaranteed and reliable guide is the best way to go as i know that the advice i am getting is accurate, clear and that it will work.**

Good luck with your hovercraft goals, see you out there floating on air! ;)
