Build a Niche Store Review

Ten days ago I found a Clickbank product that looked to have potential, so I bought it and thought I'd post a review here once I had a chance to use it.

The product is Build a Niche Store* (BANS). In basic terms, it builds web sites using an affiliate feed from eBay. You pick the product/niche you want to use, do a little bit of configuration, and the software does the rest. Like most web site building products, you still have to figure out how to get traffic to the site to make any money. The software license allows you to build unlimited sites, so you don't really have to get it right on your first attempt.

Features of Build a Niche Store

The software is highly configurable and comes with several fully customizable templates. There are instructions on using other types of templates, and there are postings on their forums showing how to get it to work with Wordpress. In addition to the eBay items, it allows you full flexibility in other ways to monetize your site with Adsense or other ads.

Note: You do have to be a member at Commission Junction and sign up as an affiliate to eBay to build a store. I found this to be very easy.

Speaking of their forum, support for the software is provided through a forum online. The two times I posted questions, they were answered quickly. Also, other users of the software post their sites for review on the forum, so you can get ideas of what's possible with the software.

It took me a couple evenings to fully set up my first site (maybe 5 hours total). Since I was already an eBay affiliate from another site, I had a basic site up and running in a few minutes. I spent most of the time customizing graphics and tweaking the arrangement of the pages. It was "live" on the third evening; my second site only took one evening, and I can do one now in a couple hours including graphics.

Along the way, I fought through a few annoying quirks with the software. It doesn't allow quotes in any text entry form (a bug in my opinion), yet this wasn't documented anywhere. I had to post a message to their forum to figure this out.

Need to Host Your Web Sites?

If you are planning on building a Build a Niche Store site, or if you do other types of Internet marketing, you'll need to buy some domains and find a good web host for your pages. I both use and recommend the following:
1 & 1 Internet
As you build your BANS business (I did say it allows unlimited sites didn't I), you'll need some cheap domain names to get things started. Although you may find cheaper, you really can't beat what 1 & 1 offers with a $6 domain registration. I use them for all of my domains and have been very satisfied.

Hostgator Web Hosting
Hostgator's $10/month Baby package is likely all you'll ever need for your IM pursuits. It allows unlimited domains, unlimited MySQL databases, and 1 terabyte of bandwidth (that's 1,000 GB). If that's not enough for you (!), you're making enough money for some dedicated servers!

So, Does BANS Work?

The real question, of course, is: can you make money with Build a Niche Store*? Absolutely! I had both my first sale and first Adsense clicks the first day my site went live. Seven days later, I made $92.42 in eBay commissions and $12.14 in Adsense commissions. Although not life-changing money, this more than pays back the cost of the software, and since I'm still building sites, this will absolutely go up over time.

I currently have four live sites with more in the works. This has been so exciting that I've already registered a dozen new domains, and just need to get them all set up. I've also been thinking about ideas of how I can hire out help with parts of it to get them monetized faster. Although Bum Marketing was making money for me, I have stopped all article marketing in favor of building niche stores.

Overall Comments About Build A Niche Store

Overall:
    The good
  • The software is highly configurable

  • It is easy to use overall

  • You are licensed for unlimited sites

  • The forum is full of information in using the software

  • You can make money quickly with the right niche

    The bad
  • Full customization takes some knowledge of CSS and PHP

  • It has a few annoying quirks

  • You're responsible for SEO on your site

I would highly recommend this software for anyone who's ready to expand their marketing efforts. If you have a good understanding of how to find niches and products to sell, with eBay, there are literally no limits. Perhaps the best part is that your visitors don't even need to buy anything from your site; if they bid on an auction within seven days of visiting your site (and win it), you get a commission!

This is a very easy way to make money...

Its true that the customization does require some CSS and PHP background but I think that it is also a positive side of it. Small learning curve for near endless possibilities of customization.
