Exactly How a REAL Bull Market Works
Article By Dr. Steve Sjuggerud in DailyWeath

"Gold is quietly moving up...
Now this is important - incredibly important. You see, this is exactly the way a REAL bull market works...
In a real bull market, the asset (in this case, gold) hits a new high as optimism over that asset peaks (that was back in March 2008). Then the optimism fades... and so does the price of the asset.
Next, the asset just meanders along, letting people give up on it... But it's just plotting its next move higher. It's shaking off all the nonbelievers before it breaks through to a new high." -- Dr. Steve Sjuggerud

Dow Theory Alert: 11/16/09
The reknown Dow Theory squelches all media noise and focuses attention on two markets: the Dow Jones Industrials and the Dow Jones Transportation index. On November, 16, 2009, Dow transports closed above 4,045 at 4,046.50... Could mean the bull market is for real.

The Daily Crux is a Global financial news source. In fact, it's the top financial media digest in the world. 2009's Best Bullish Chart: VIX

Update: May 22, 2009, VIX 32.63
Implication: Caution... there is still plenty of volatility in the market.
Risk is always present when traders attempt to time the market in terms of direction. However, as an active trader myself, I like to gather information from what I deem reliable sources; including VectorVest, Profits Run and Schaeffers Investment Research. Also, I was recently introduced to "The Daily Crux" by a very astute Squidoo Lensmaster suggesting their mostly contrarian view would be of interest to me--and it is. Anyhow, I often compare notes and trade accordingly when I get a consensus among my preferred market intelligence resources.
Hence the VIX chart shown here confirms my biased bullishness going into April 2009. Should VIX breakdown below 39, I'm looking for a rally. There's a bearish case too... Read about it at The Bear Market Daily News on Squidoo.
Read Jeff Clark's VIX Article for a full explanation of the "descending triangle" pattern illustrated above.

Scanning For Undevalued Stocks in a Horrendous Market
By Chuck Anthony
Analysts can determine a stock's true value, not to be confused with its actual price, by using a composite of forecasted earnings per share, forecasted earnings growth, profitability, interest, and inflation rates. A stock value will thusly increase when earnings, earnings growth rate and profitability increase, and when interest and inflation rates deline. While there is never any guarantee that a stock will perform up to expectations in terms of its value, I like to scan the Market for undervalued stocks. You can easily gather information on these by searching "undervalued stocks" or "bullish undervalued stocks" and develop some ideas for bullish plays, even in this bearish climate.
I am personally only short-term swing trade bullish plays right now, but I do know some investors who like a 3 to 5-year window on certain stocks; infrastructure and solar come to mind. Either way, one should excercise caution and apply the appropriate stops or personal asset alocation rules when trading at this particular point in time.
