Hot Pink Building Houses First-Rate Films

Burns Court Cinemas lodges in a bright pink building in the midst of the Burns Court Historic District in Downtown Sarasota, Florida. Since 1993, the small theater complex gained a reputation for showing first-run, hand-picked foreign language, independent and art films.

In many ways, Burns Court Cinemas and the Sarasota Film Society serve as film curators for movie lovers. The organization also hosts film festivals such as Cine-World, which recently completed its 20th year of  showcasing films from different countries, cultures and communities in a weeklong event.

Many of the films shown at Burns Court Cinemas fall into obscure categories or suffer from little media attention. Even so Burns Court Cinemas bring these interesting works to our attention and even provide synopses and reviews in the lobby of the movie house to help you find challenging films to see.

Rourke shows presence as Randy "The Ram" Robinson. His delivery fits well with the documentary style of the film as the star interacts with real wrestlers filmed in the movie's authentic locations.

She is the only actress to have worked with all of horror films' leading men - Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price and Christopher Lee. But Hazel Court was so much more than a Scream Queen! She was one of England's top film actresses in the 40's and 50's as well as one of the world's top pin-ups. Hazel went on to have a high-profile career in US television in the 60's (Bonanza, Dr. Kildare, Rawhide, Mission Impossible, The Twilight Zone, Burke's Law, The Wild Wild West, and more). Her autobiography traces her path from her childhood in the West Midlands of England to Lake Tahoe; from famous actress to internationally acclaimed sculptor and artist. Hazel provides a unique and emotionally moving view of an English woman s life in Hollywood. Lavishly illustrated with rare photos including some that you never thought you'd see!
