CAPITALISM 101

The purpose of this lens is to shed some positive light on the integrity and value of the network marketing industry as powerful business driver in the free-market system. And to give credit to the millions of participants who have actively been engaged in their pursuit of happiness. I'd like to first start by defining capitalism, and then proceed to convey my experience with the business model. So, to begin...what is capitalism?

CAPITALISM - n.
An economic system based on a free market, open competition, profit motive and private ownership of the means of production. Capitalism encourages private investment and business, compared to a government-controlled economy.

As an individual who once scoffed at network marketing, I feel I now owe the industry, and it's members an apology, but even more so, a long standing ovation for their commitment to the industry, the principles of american entrepreneurship, and their participation in what I now concede to be the height of capitalism and an up and coming power house in a new economy. I dedicate this lens to a great american vehicle for wealth.... Network Marketing, which is also known as Social Marketing, Direct Selling, Marketing and Distribution, Intellectual Distribution...and thus in short....CAPITALISM!!

A REMARKABLE BUSINESS MODEL

Network Marketing can be seen as a remarkable capitalistic business model. And I am not the only one who thinks so. I was first persuaded when I read a book which had a section written by a well know peak performance coach named Steve Siebold. It was certainly an interesting section of the book, and it really caught my attention. When the contributing author Seibold, mentioned how a great majority of people don't understand network marketing, and how their ignorance often shows itself and takes the form of ridicule, I instantly realized what he was talking about. I thought this was such a superb thought because of how I saw the business before I really started pondering the entrepreneurial life. The idea resonated with me especially now, as I have considered the many different types of business modules that exist out there. The model is simple, clean, and efficient. It actually amazes me when I think about the "neatness" of the model an how it is overlooked. Of course it's difficult to see this when there are so many negative views and issues that we hear about the model.

The Power of One-to-One Marketing

Bringing Products to The Market place

Why is Network Marketing so special you ask? Well I'll tell you. It's because of it's power to bring products to the market and into untapped markets. Let's talk about this potential by first attempting to understand the power of One-to-One Marketing.

According to world renound economist Paul Zane Pilzer, the fortunes to be made in the years ahead will not be predominantly in physical delivery but in education-not in physical distribution, but in intellectual distribution: educating consumers about products and services that will improve their lives, but that they either don't yet know about or don't yet know are now affordable. Mr. Pilzner stresses that because technology is advancing so rapidly and because so many new products are being created everyday, that the gap is huge and growing larger every day-which means that the opportunity of intellectual distribution is continually increasing.

Mr. Pilzner makes that statement that he is often asked, "Doesn't the Internet fulfill that function?" Surprisingly, his answer is "No, not at all!" He reasons that the Internet is a great place to go to get educated about products and services you already know you want to learn about-but it cannot fulfill the education function of the peddler or general store proprietor any more than the infomercials of the 80s and 90s could.
The Internet, television and magazines are all passive media. The only place where we actually learn something new, where we engage with new information to the extent that we may actually change our minds and try something new, is in a live, one-to-one conversation. The Internet is rapidly taking over the information function of teaching people things they already know they want to learn. But the vital sales function
of teaching people about things they don't yet know about will always be an educational model that functions best person-to-person. And that is what has given rise to the vehicle of distribution known as direct selling, or one-to-one marketing....thus demonstrating the Power of Network Marketing! Now the most exciting part is that anyone can do it!! It's a business that puts the FREE in the Free Market System.

.

So if It's so great...

Don't we have to worry about market saturation?

So you are probably asking yourself right about now..."If it is such a magnificent opportunity and if it's non-zero sum, then why isn't everyone doing it?"
Well...The first answer that I'll give you...is that there is in fact many people who are actually doing it, they just aren't making the most of it because of the second point. There is a majority of people out there, would rather stay home and watch T.V, or spend several hours mindlessly "socializing" on Facebook or Twitter, than to seriously consider the powerful possibilites which this business model holds. Now, this may sound like I am being onery, be seriously it's a statistical fact. Warren Buffet, Richard Branson, Jim Rohn, Steve Seibold, and many others would agree, that If the average person really understood network marketing, chances are they would seriously get involved, treat it like a business, and find success in it. The fact is it's such a brilliant and ingenious idea, and anyone who understands the principles of capitalism, marketing, and distribution will see that.

In actuality, though, the people who still hold a negative view of the business today make up a small minority. Network Marketing companies are trading on the stock exchange and have been featured positively in publications like Inc. magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and Success magazine... So...
