Buster the cat - An Animal Shelter Adoption / Rescue Story
This is the story of Buster the cat who was adopted 17 years ago from a California Animal Shelter. Everyday animals are destroyed because of over-population and neglectful owners. Please spay or neuter all pets even if they don't go outside. And, if in need of an animal friend check your local shelter for a pet that needs you to rescue them.
Buster's Adoption Story
Buster was adopted as a baby cat from my local animal shelter in 1991. His birthday is estimated to be April 15, 1991 (an easy to remember date).
When I went to the shelter to look for a pet I saw buster in his cage and he was all alone and in the very back of his cage looking very sad.
I went over by the cage and he was so funny, when he noticed me he came to the front of the cage and started to try to get my attention.
He was a little scruffy looking and really looked more like a little rat than then cute baby cat he really was.
Although, he was not the most beautiful cat at the animal shelter he was the silliest and he captured my heart when he was trying so hard to get my attention that he got tangled up in the ring in the cage that was used to hold the water dish.
I stood outside his cage for a little bit and then got ready to leave... when I looked back he had slunk to the back of his cage again and was looking sad; like, oh no there is another one who doesn't want me. That was it I knew this kitty had to have a home.
I adopted him from the animal shelter that night and brought him home.
The first thing I did when he got home was give him a bath in the kitchen sink... maybe not such a good way to make friends with your new cat. But I had to because he was dirty... once he was clean and dry he was absolutely the most darling kitten I had ever seen. It was true love at second site.

How Buster Named Himself!
Seventeen years ago we adopted a small cute cuddly cat with no name... what to do... Daddy knew best. I called my father with my woe; what to call the new addition to my life, my wise Father said wait he will name himself.
After a few days with this new addition it became clear while cute; he did have some habits that were not so endearing.
After one long day at work and coming home to a house that had been "CAT i fied" the cat finally found a name!
While our nameless foe was about to get into something, again, his new mommy warned "Don't Even Think About It BUSTER". Dad was right... he did name himself; and our baby has been Buster ever since.
After 17 years he has proved over and over that Buster is definitely the name for him.
