And then, best of all, HIIT is effective at transforming your body into muscle. Because muscle requires more energy to power, and because it takes up less room than an equivalent weight of fat, gaining muscle will mean that you will look trimmer at the same weight, and you've increased your body's ability to burn fat by increasing your muscle mass.
HIIT involves performing bouts of high intensity exercise of 1-3 minutes, followed by lower intensity recovery periods. This is referred to as an interval, and can be applied to most any exercise. As an example, if we were to apply this to running, it would probably look like this:

* Jog for 400 meters (one more lap)
* Repeat for a total of 3 or 4 intervals
