Why Buy Targeted Web Site Traffic When You Can Get It For Free???

In my humble opinion, newbies shouldn't try to buy targeted web site traffic at first. This is one of the many pitfalls of trying to get a website going online. I'm not saying it can't be done because many people are making a killing by using PPC (pay per click) and other paid advertising methods. What I'm saying is that PPC is a huge animal to wrestle when you've just arrived in the online jungle. Here are just a few tips on how to increase traffic to your site without having to buy targeted web site traffic.

Buy Targeted Web Site Traffic Or Get It For Free

Of course, if you're new online, hard-headed, and believe all the hype about how easy PPC is, then go right ahead and start up a campaign. Just don't say that I didn't warn you!

On the other hand, if you don't want to buy targeted web site traffic and want it for Free then you've 'stumbled upon' the right lens. =)

If you didn't get that subtle reference then let me let you in on a little secret. It's called StumbleUpon.

StumbleUpon is a free web site sharing service. You share your favorite web sites with others who have similar interests. Submit your web sites, lenses, and/or blogs to StumbleUpon and give your web site traffic a boost. Make sure you participate in the community so it doesn't seem like you are just there to spam the site.

This is just one of many ways you don't have to buy targeted web site traffic.

Another Way Not To Buy Targeted Web Site Traffic

The second place you could go for free targeted web site traffic is Digg.com. Digg is another social site where a relationship is formed with other members.

Basically, you submit content, like your web pages, blogs, or lenses, and digg it (vote for it). The object is to collect Friends and have them Digg your content. Play nice and Digg their content, too, only if it's good. Digg.com is not a place for mindless sucking up. Be honest, don't spam, and you should be in good shape.

Other social sites that have the same basic principles as StumbleUpon and Digg are:

Mixx.com
Furl.net
Del.icio.us
Mister-Wong.com

Submit your content, participate in the communities, don't spam, and you won't have to buy targeted web site traffic for a long time!

Buy Targeted Web Site Traffic At Your Own Risk

I am by no means a hater of PPC. I know that for me right now and many others, it's just not the way to go at this point in time. So instead of spending money to drive targeted web site traffic to our web sites, we have to invest time.

This investment of time probably includes writing articles and submitting them to the article directories. Yes, I can hear the whining now. I, too, was once a whiner, but I stopped when I figured out there was no other way I could make this online thing work unless I got targeted traffic to my sites.

The whole idea of creating an article is so that you can include a backlink to your site, page, lens, or blog. Oh, and also to provide people with much sought after information. Some of the article directories WILL NOT allow you to include an affiliate link. So in this case, you would have to build a lens around your affiliate product and have the link in your article point to your lens.

There are plenty of ways to conduct the research for writing articles. You can go to the article directories and do a search on your main keyword. Then read a couple of submissions that show up in your search. Put what you found in your own words and submit your article. Don't forget to include your keyword or keyword phrase in your title, article body, and in your resource box.

Another way is to go to Gistweb.com. The gist of GistWeb is to give you a summary of any page online. The tool is free and can save tons of time when doing article research.

Once you have your article written, submit it to one of the many Article Directories on the web. Make sure you read their terms of service and/or policies to make sure your content will be accepted. Here is a very short list of some of the more popular Article Directories:

AssociatedContent.com- this Article Directory pays you to submit articles! Read their guidelines to learn more.
EzineArticles.com- Google loves this one. Just be careful because they don't allow affiliate links!
ArticleDashboard.com
Isnare.com

That should be enough to get you up and running. Proof that you don't have to buy targeted web site traffic! After you submit your articles don't forget to go to your social sites and submit your content.

A word of caution...don't submit the same article to all of the directories. You want to submit unique content so the Search Engines will give you credit for the links you have within your articles.
