Portrait - Catch
Buy prints of CatchThis portrait of "Catch" was done for a friend. In the past, Mona worked exclusively in watercolor pencil, but currently prefers to oil pastel. This watercolor pencil piece was done after working exclusively in oil pastel for about 2 years. When you compare it to "The Better Half", you can tell how her voice has changed after using the oil pastels. The colors are much more vibrant and have more range, or pop.
Read Mona's Apples 'N Oats magazine article about this horse's portrait to learn more.
Friesian Horse - Natural Grace
Buy prints of Natural Grace. This image of a Friesian horse was my favorite until Catch came along. It reminds me of a graceful dancer or actress. While Mona and I were discussing what to title the painting, I brought up Grace Kelly as an example, which turned into "Natural Grace".
Arab Rescue Horse - Colton
Buy prints of Colton. This painting is based on a horse rescued by IERAL (Iowa Equine Rescue & Awareness League). I'm excited about this one because 50% of the print proceeds are donated to IERAL, to help Colton and other horses in need. It helps support this wonderful organization, and makes a great gift.
Longhorn Cow - Cowgirl
Buy prints of Cowgirl.Mona has started creating her smaller originals on handmade paper. Be sure to visit her lens about how to make handmade paper. This is my favorite so far. It has great color, and is just a fun piece to have.
Apples 'N Oats Magazine
Not only is Mona a wonderful artist, it also turns out she's a great writer. You can read her regular Apples 'N Oats magazine articles on our website. It's just way cool to tell people she's an author, and has a magazine editor! I keep telling her she's becoming a giant media mogul but she doesn't believe me. :)Mona's painting Red Carnations is on the Apples 'n Oats cover to the right.
