Great TV, January 14, 2009
I've had this TV for four months now. I got it from Sixth Avenue, and the free shipping was terrific. DHL did the delivery, and there was no damage what so ever. The guy even offered to carry it up to the second floor for me, and then waited patiently while I opened the exterior carton to check the interior one.
I live in a suburb outside of Chicago. I get my signal over the air with a rooftop antenna. I get nine HD signals and three SD signals that I surf regularly, and another thirteen SD signals for when I'm really bored. CBS (2-1) is occasionally a little iffy, but all the other signals are at 95% - 100% all the time (the set has a nifty signal meter).
The wide screen HD shows are fantastic. At first, the images were overpowering. I used the Custom picture setting to tone everything down, and now it's perfect. Even though the set is 720p, you can see the difference between a 720p and a 1080i signal. It's not much, but it's there. As for the complaint about a green hue, either the guy set it up wrong or it's a defective set.
A friend of mine has a (top of the line brand name) 37" 1080i set that cost twice what this one did. He gets HD over the wire. There are lots of HD channels, but not that much HD material. HD material on an HD channel doesn't seem to have much 'punch' to it. SD material on an SD channel is weak. I'm not sure if it's the TV, the service, or he hasn't 'tweaked' it properly, but I like my setup better.
The only complaints I have are that switching between channels is slow, nearly a second, and the remote could be laid out better, but both are tolerable.
All in all, a great set at a great price. Highly recommended.
