Buying Tires Online

You can save money, have access to just about any tire and you can make the best and safest decision for your family. There are only a few things you need to do when buying tires online.

Find your tire size
There are two very simple ways to do this:
1. The first way is to click on this link to go to Tire Rack. Enter your vehicle in the boxes at the top of the page and not only will your size be displayed but all the possible tires for your vehicle will show as well.
2. In some cases the manufacturer has used a couple different size tires on the same model vehicle. To find your size, all you need to do is look at the side of your current tire. You will see something that looks like 235 70 R16 or 155 65 R13. Copy this number down to look up your tire. You can also find this information usually on the body of your vehicle just inside the driver's door or in your owner's manual.

Find the tire you want to buy
Tire Rack gives you a wealth of knowledge to help you choose the best tire for your vehicle.

Once you have entered either your vehicle or your tire size, a list of tires will appear. By clicking on the image of the tire you can instantly see how well this tire performed in testing and how other owners of this tire have rated it. You can also compare it to other tires by checking the compare box and clicking the compare button at the top of the results column.

Note all types of tires will appear in the initial search result by default. You will see snow tires, performance tires, summer tires and all seasons all together. To simply narrow the choices down, look to the left sidebar column and uncheck any tire categories that do not apply to you.

You can make selecting a tire as easy or as complex as you want. A lot of research is available to you at the click of the mouse to help you select the best tire. Or if you see what you like right away, you can purchase immediately. You have access to tests run on individual tires and you can make your decision based on actual performance. Users just like yourself also rate their tires so you can see other users' experience. Chances are you will have an idea of the brand or even tire you want to buy and all you have to do is find your size.

Buying online gives access to just about any tire. So regardless of your preference, chances are you can have the tires of your choice.

Next, Find an installer

However, this is also not difficult to do on your own. Just call a few garages in your area and ask if they would be willing to mount your tires (IMPORTANT: Do this before you order so you have your plan completely in place) Ideally you are going to want to choose someplace that does not sell the brand you have chosen. You can then tell them that you want this tire but they don't carry it. This way they will not be losing a sale.

I personally had my tires put on at a local Wal-mart. I now have a rotation and balance contract for the life of my tires wherever Wal-mart is. However, I also checked my local Honda Dealer and another local tire dealer. All were willing to put my tires on for their normal installation fee.

(Optional) Comparison shopping
In my case I saved a good bit of money buying tires online. You may want to compare prices to get your best deal. I would venture to say that you will find that buying online will save you money almost every time.

Some of the other dealers online are not as reliable. You may save a dollar or two but you also may run into problems actually getting your tires. Not so with Tire Rack.
