Requirements for the New LPCC License in California

Aspira CE Now Offers The Curriculum Required for Those Seeking the LPCC Licensure Through the Grandparenting Path with the CA BBS
For licensed Marriage and Family Therapists outside of California who typically seek MFT continuing education, California is offering a new option. The CA BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences) has implemented a new license, the LPCC (licensed professional clinical counselor). The LPCC license is open to those already licensed in CA as well as those outside of California. There is a "grandparenting" path that the CA BBS established for those wishing to apply for LPCC licensure. The requirements will be different for those licensed outside of California. For those that are non-BBS licensed professionals additional courses are required.
All of the additional coursework that is required by the CA BBS for this new license is now offered at Aspira Continuing Education at http://www.aspirace.com. The licensed professional also needs to be sure that their masters or doctorate program covered the core content areas required by the CA BBS. The extra coursework needed can be attained from a CA BBS approved online CEU provider (Aspira CE is a CA BBS approved provider). The courses and their corresponding number of required hours are as follows:
* 15 contact hours of training in alcoholism and other chemical substance abuse dependency;
* 10 contact hours of training in human sexuality;
* 15 contact hours of training in spousal or partner abuse assessment, detection, and intervention;
* 7 contact hours of training in child abuse assessment and reporting;
* 18 contact hours of training in California law and professional ethics;
* 10 contact hours of training in aging and long-term care; and,
* 15 contact hours of instruction in crisis or trauma counseling.
Aspira has made some new additions to their course listing over the last few months. Aspira Continuing Education now offers each of the required courses listed above. "Now, those seeking licensure with the CA BBS as an LPCC can meet all of their extra coursework in one place", said Nicole Hiltibran, MA, LMFT, CEO of Aspira Continuing Education. "This really simplifies the process during this window of opportunity of the grandparenting path provided by the CA BBS."
Aspira Continuing Education goes beyond just providing courses to meet the new LPCC license in CA. They offer many courses for those seeking renewal of their existing license whether it is in social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Aspira is the proverbial one-stop-shop for those seeking continuing education in the mental health and social work fields, in California and across the Unites States.
