I remember Smokey and the Bandit and the CB terms always seemed really fun. Great lens and chance to remember yesteryear. Although I think radios and the electronic circuit boards and printed circuits are more advanced now

Many -manner radio companies require you to purchase a license from the FCC. The CB radio service is not considered one of them. The FCC does have some guidelines that it is best to observe though. You'll find the rules tucked into the operating handbook of your radio. It's also possible to download them on the Internet. The principles are straightforward to read and are organized as a list of widespread questions. They embody technical rules about radios and antennas in addition to what you'll be able to and might't do on the air.

Wow, what a super idea for a lens and what fun! I sure enjoyed this as I well remember the CB Radio. My brother built his own in the 60's and it was amazing. I think I still have some Angel Dust left to sprinkle on this lens.

Great lens! We never had a CB growing up but friends of ours did and I used to love to go over and we would listen in on the truckers and once in a while talk on it too... oh what fun that was. Love the Convoy song also! :)

Great lens! It brings back a lot of memories. My parents (I was with them at the time) found out that their first grandchild had been born via CB. She was a little early and the look on my parent's faces was priceless.
    Thanks for sharing

When I was little, my grandparents sold a big piece of their land to the government and that land was made into a interstate highway. They lived right beside that highway. After it was built, us kids would sit out in my grandfathers car at night and turn on the CB so we could hear the truckers talking as they rode by. Excellent lens Cynthia.

My dad had one. He didn't quite have the language down though, but it was fun anyway! Over and out, good buddy!

I know CBs were popular here in the Philippines back in the day. People had them in their homes and some kids used them in place of phones. We never had one but I kept hearing my friends talk about their conversation parties the next day. Fun lens, very nostalgic (:

Fun Lens. Who could forget Smokey & the Bandit. I watched a lot of trucker movies but I've never used a CB Radio. Although I've used a Marine Radio Telephone that uses some of the same lingo! Grr...failed the quiz. Will have to study better! Thanks for the mention. Happy Holidays!
  • jptanabe Dec 11, 2009 @ 8:52 am | delete
Oh this is so great! I only know of CB radios from the movies, not really being part of a trucker family. Love how you included so many squids in you links - "Fur"ocious Leo is all ready to join a convoy and head out!
  • Ladydove62 Dec 10, 2009 @ 5:41 pm | delete
So fun you are! Thanks for the inclusion. I suspect we have... and technology moves on.

I think some truckers in the UK used CB radio but it never really spread to car drivers as far as I know. I think we missed out, it sounds like a great experience. Blessed by an Angel.
  • Jewelsofawe Dec 10, 2009 @ 2:35 am | delete
Reminds of those trucker movies with Sally Field and what's his name... Burt Reynolds! Loved this stuff as a kid.
  • 24websurf Dec 9, 2009 @ 7:44 pm | delete
Very entertaining and thank you for the links! I used to love those songs and of course I had to "man the base station" at the house in case my mom or dad called. Do you remember the song "White Knight"? I still play sometimes for my son for a giggle. :) ~Blessed by a Squid Angel~
  • Sylvestermouse Dec 10, 2009 @ 10:11 am | delete
I had completely forgotten that song! Thank you for reminding me. I have added it just for you and your son! Enjoy and thank you for the blessing.
  • Heather426 Dec 9, 2009 @ 5:28 pm | delete
OMG, this is fantastic! Thank you so much for linking to me! Funny thing is that I was living in Texas at the time, but my handle was "Dark Angel" because of my dark hair. 5* and blessed!
