CDMM began by getting the store involved in a local Christmas festival which was somewhat similar to a small trade show. Store 24 Express had a table with a tri-fold display. Store 24 Express Pocket Pal organizers, 2007 calendars and free coded Broaster Chicken coupons were handed out to help create a "buzz" for the convenience store.

However, a big-time "buzz" for Broaster Chicken is being pursued BEFORE the chicken even arrives. Beautiful color invitations are to be laminated on card stock and mailed to major high-traffic local businesses in gold leaf envelopes. A Post-It Note will request that each invitation be put on public display. (There will even be a hole in the laminated plastic to help facilitate the posting.) Before the mailing goes out, each prospect will be called and told to be on the lookout for the invitation. After the invitation should be have been received, each prospect will again be called for follow-up purposes.

It began with CDMM facilitating a write-in campaign by Middletown High School students to the Fox News Channel to cover the Middletown Days Parade & Western Festival in Middletown, CA on June 17, 2006 for the first time in 45 years. The effort was then reinforced by a press kit from the Lake County Marketing Association to the chairman of the Fox News Channel, Roger Ailes. But, the most impressive effort was no doubt made by Ryze Business Networking. Thanks to this online buisness network, people from around the world began calling Fox News toll-free and leaving voicemail; or, visiting Fox News and leaving email encouraging the network to visit "Small Town USA" during its most festive time of the year. Looking back, my greatest thrill during my college years was being given the opportunity to represent Florida Technological University (what is now the University of Central Florida) as a photojournalist for the grand opening of Walt Disney World.  For me, this was the kind of memory-maker that almost eclipsed the Bi-centennial of the United States in 1976.

I am a firm believer that a rising tide raises all boats.  But first, you need to get those boats in the water.  If people will just take time to care about the needs of others and truly connect with a win/win business networking mindset, plus a good design, I am convinced amazing things can happen. Rememember, Walt Disney World used to be swampland. But, just look what caring people who connected and had a good design accomplished.
