CIA Employment - A Guide on How to Gain Employment Within the CIA
Its every kids dream to obtain CIA employment, and although it may not be easy, it definitely is possible. Before we get to the guide I have to let you know(in case you did not already) that only about 5-10% of CIA employment is spy related. So if your goal is to be a secret agent you must follow this guide 100% in order to have a chance. The Central Intelligence Agency is very strict with its hiring process but in the long run it pays off. If accepted you will be rewarded with a cool job that pays well with amazing benefits.
Steps on how to obtain CIA employment
- College - The minimum requirement for most jobs is a bachelors degree and many have higher requirements. It will also help if the degree is related to the field you are applying for.
- Don't do drugs - If you have a history of illegal drug or alcohol use or have been to rehab they will find out.
- Citizenship - You must be a US citizen in order to join the CIA.
- Bilingual - Not a requirement but will increase your chances, especially if your goal is to be a spy, who may be positioned in other countries
- Meet the Requirements - Make sure your are qualified for the position you want: physical, mental & education wise.
- Don't lie - You must pass a lie detector test.
- Apply - Search the CIA employment website for the specific job your looking for and apply for it online.
- Have patients - Now that you have learned how to join the CIA and applied, be patient. If they are interested in offering you a CIA job they will contact you within 45 days.
- Pass exams - physical, psychological & drug tests are all required to obtain CIA employment.
- Pass background check - of course they are going to run an extensive background check to make sure you qualify for CIA employment. If you have any prior felony's/misdemeanors or anything "dirty" on your record you will not be accepted.
- Background check yourself - This is the best advice I can offer you on how to join the CIA, do this and you can see what they see. If your not clean then don't bother applying, most important you will be able to see if your background report contains any false information and you will be prepared when they question you on it. You must use a website that is able to access the CIS database which is the exact database that the CIA uses. One of the few websites that is able to access to the CIS database is the official Background Record Check website, Click here to see if your name appears in the results. If you're name appears then they have your record available and you will be prepared.
- Accept - If your lucky enough to be offered CIA employment your on your way to obtaining your dream job.. time for training.
- Training - Depending on which field you where offered a CIA job in, you may have to do training, this wont be to difficult unless your training to become a spy.
Personal Advice on how to join the CIA
- Internships are the easiest way to get employed by the CIA, if you lad an internship and do a good job they may offer you a position.
- CIA employment qualifications are strict and you might be placed in a department you didn't apply for, but remember you can always transfer later.
- It is rumored that the maximum age the CIA accepts is around 35.
- There are alot of instructions in the application so make sure you read and follow them and don't miss the deadlines.
- Being in the military will help your resume alot as it adds relevant job experience. They may also teach you how to join the CIA in the military.

- Interesting, but I would think someone would spell check and proof this since it is going out to the general public. Patients are folks seeking medical aid. You really wanted patience in bold in step 8. "Alot" is not a word. You want people to land internships, not lad them. There are others, but not worth while to comment.

- Haha, I know. Cringe-worthy grammar. The person who wrote this is clearly not in the CIA. One of the big requirements to be in the Agency is strong writing skills. Fail.

- i am a nigerian but i have been in ghana for six years. it has being my innermost desire to join and serve in the cia although i know that i am not a us citizen but please accept me into the service and i swear on my life that i will prove my best. i am 22 years old
