CLOSELY WATCHED TRAINS (OSTRE SLEDOVANE VLAKY) BY JIRI MENZEL

This Czech film features an unambitious reluctant youth who is preoccupied with his desire of having sex but who thinks the draw of joining the organized resistant force. But the latter thought requires a lot of focus and energy. Here Vaclav Neckar's character is an apprentice railway platform guard who prefers the inertia of his small town depot. This youth spends most of his time watching and observing the older railway guards and flirting with the female conductor of the passing train.

Closely Watched Trains is a 1966 Czechoslovak film directed by Jiri Menzel. The film is based on a story by Bohumil Hrabal. It is a coming-of-age story about a boy working at a train station in German-occupied Czechoslovakia during World War II. It was filmed
