My friends and I used to LOVE to go trick or treating...well one year when we were about 11-13 a friend and i decided to combine our hauls....we got a sheet & cut 3 holes in it....2 for heads and one for a hand in the middle....then we took markers and let our friends draw and color all over it. they could draw anything they wanted but no letters or numbers....we used all different colors....we had striped sections and stars circles hearts swirls....then we sprayed our hair wild colors and teased it out all messy and used face paint to color our faces like the sheet....we had 2 little buckets from mcdonalds and 1 pillow case....we each held a bucket and took turns with the single middle hand hole....one of us would hold a bucket with it & the other would hold the pillow case under the sheet....then we just dumped all our candy from both buckets into the pillow case...about 1 hour and 1 miles into our trip we could barely hold the pillowcase....luckily we were close to her house ....so we went there and enlisted her brother to carry the pillow case the rest of the way for us....in exchange for 1/3 of the candy....

by the time we got back to my house we had covered about 2.5-3 miles of house lined streets and the pillow case was so full it could not be gathered at the top to be held!!!

we dumped it into a pile in the middle of the room and separated it into piles....what she liked, what i liked, what we both liked....and what neither of us liked....what we both liked we split evenly....her brother got everything neither of us liked....he never negotiated which candy he was gonna get LOL....although we did give him a few of his favorite....just because by the end we had so much there was no way we could eat it all LOL

The halloween candy buyback program is a great program....It started with one dentist who wanted to get excess candy out of kids mouths...and now it has grown to a national campaign!!!

Dentists all over the country will buy your extra candy - and those icky ones you dont like - in the days or weeks after halloween....then then take the candy and send it to troops overseas who don't get to celebrate with their families and friends!!

Most offices pay about $1 per pound of Halloween candy, some pay more and give out treats like toothbrushes or toys to the kids.

This is a great way to get rid of all that candy without throwing it out and letting it go to waste. Dentists know that kids are not great with oral hygiene so they want to keep those sugary treats out of their mouths. Adults on the other hand are much better with that (or should be) and they deserve a treat....especially those serving with the military in war zones.

The current holiday of Hallwoeen is practiced primarily in the USA. Is it October 31st and is mostly a childrens holidays. Kids will dress up and go from houe to house and collect candy. some adults will host costume parties. It does have origins in Pagan tradition, but most people these days do not delve that deeply into it.
