The Weather Forecast

The Science Center gets a new Home .... coming soon.

The Telus World Science Center is building a new home across from the zoo. This will enable the zoo and the science center to offer package deals and increase tourist value.

I think it is about time. The old one was too small, hard to get to and you needed to pay for parking. The concrete walls didn't help to make it cheerful and fun, even with all the new renovations it still felt really cold.

I love taking the kids to the science center for the day because it gives them so much to do and they have hands on learning. I prefer it to the zoo, especially in the winter. It makes for a fun educational outing that is warm and you can end the day with a movie.

We usually bought annual passes before the kids started school. This enabled us to be able to go whenever we wanted and not have to fork out money. We would get our money's worth by the third visit.

If you haven't taken in the science center yet - you should. If you want to know more about the new location and what is happening check out their website:

Where to Buy the BEST Ice Cream

Calgary has a wonderful creamery right off the down town core in the Ogden Industrial Park.

If you want to buy gallons of ice cream in your child's favorite flavors at a wholesale price, you can. The bonus, is they will add a piece of dry ice to the box and when you get home you and your kids can have a fog show all your own. Just be careful not to directly touch the dry ice.

The Foothills Creamery is located just off Ogden Road before it turns south.

Foothills Creamery Home Page

To purchase either ice cream, butter or cheese go to the warehouse enterance in the back and their are instructions there.

Want two flavors in one huge bucket? Buy the end batches with two or three flavors in a huge gallon bucket for a reduced price.

Mom's Take a Break - Have Dad take the Kids to A Flames Game

Every mother needs a break at home, to sit in the quiet and read a book or take in her favorite show. Have dad take the kids to a flames game.

If you are a Hockey Fan what better family time then to go to the game together, a real treat.

Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames are a professional ice hockey team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They are a member of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The club is the third major-professional ice hockey team to represent the city of Calgary, following the Calgary Tigers (1921?27) and Calgary Cowboys (1975?77). The Flames are one of two NHL franchises in Alberta, the other being the Edmonton Oilers. The cities' proximity has led to a famous rivalry, known as the Battle of Alberta. Games between the teams are often heated events.

The team was founded in 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia as the Atlanta Flames, and moved to Calgary in 1980. The Flames played their first three seasons in Calgary at the Stampede Corral before moving into their current home arena, the Pengrowth Saddledome (known as the Olympic Saddledome from 1983 to 1996 and the Canadian Airlines Saddledome from 1996 to 2000), in 1983. In 1986, the Flames became the first Calgary team...
