Photographing for Ebay and Craigslist using a CamStand
Ranked #28,878 in Education, #494,096 overall
It can very difficult to sell your items for sale, if you have inferior photographs. Unlike a store, customers must rely on your detailed description of the item for sale and foremost the appearance of that item. Photographing items of high quality, does not have to be difficult and a time consuming process. Neither should it be an expensive process! I personally have been selling products since 1972. In those days, I created costly printed catalogs. I have had many problems with photographing items for sale. Many problems costing time and money such as glare, shadows, blurriness, poor color and the list goes on. I even hired professionals, with not much improvement! Not until digital cameras came in existence, that my answers were solved. With today's great cameras, great software, and using a CamStand with a light tent, your photos will be the highest consistent quality that will compare to spend the time and money of hiring a professional photographer!

An overview
First off, I am not going to teach you, how to use a camera! I am going to show you how to set-up and use all of the necessary equipment to consistently create professional quality digital photographs of your items that you would sell of Ebay, Craigslist or any other use.
Materials you'll need
Of course you will need a Digital Camera (3 megapixel or better). A light tent large enough for any of your small to medium sized items for sale. I use a 30" cube light tent and I love it! I chucked my small one! You will need ample lighting to evenly light the tent. I purchased my light tent from HarborFreight.com for under $30. I use (6) 20watt 5000K CFL's, they have the equivalency of 600 watts, run cool to the touch and you can leave them on for hours without seeing you electric bill go up! The color temperature is very important. The temperature must be 5000k-5500k or your photos will need color correction in you software program. Above 5500k you photos will have blue cast. Typical CFL's from the store are around 3300K and will yield a yellow cast. Then we suggest using our CamStand 24 or 30HD and I personally love the CamStand 30HD with the Manfrotto head. Camstands start at $35 and my top of the line CamStand is only $200! So the cost of a super professional studio is under $300 plus your camera! The CamStands and special lighting are all available at PhotoCopyStand.com.
