More Camp Hosting Jobs

This is an on going site as we travel around the U.S. as Camp Host. Please Check Back With Us Often!

1) Panguitch Lake UT Aud Di Company. OPEN ONLY FOR THE SUMMER. Does pay. We were only there a couple of weeks at the being of the season as we waited for the snow to melt up by Salt Lake City. Nice company to work for. I helped clean the sites and got them ready for opening. Helped tracked down the leaks in the water line. Shoveled snow out of some of the sites. Over looks some of Panguitch Lake. Little homes scattered around the lake. Very peaceful when we were there. Has full hookups and my satellite system worked GREAT there! Once the campground was up and running we were moved to Duck Creek.

2) Duck Creek Campground UT. SUMMER JOB ONLY. Done by Aud Di and they pay. They placed us in a GREAT site for most. With a deck and cover in trees. My satellite system barely worked with 2 dishes. If we were going to stay for the whole time, I would have had to do some desperate adjusting and still I don't know if we could have gotten everything such as TV(all channels), Internet and phone. Since we pay for those we expect to get them at each site we are at. But we were there a couple of weeks and could rough it. I leveled the firepits, clean each site and the bathrooms. Went around and cleaned other camp host sites just for the fun of it. Ran over the snow and had a ball! By the time they opened we were just on our way out to the next place. Thanks Steve For Having Us!

u>3) Storm Mountain Picnic Grounds UT.Summer Job Only. Done by American Land & Leisure. Well what can I say. There are a number of Day Use places up the Big Cottonwood Canyon Road. All very confusing and frustrating! The ones that don't have someone (Host) right around the picnic tables, people think are FREE! At Storm Mountain we set up at the front to try and catch each person driving or walking in. But the Forest Department kept tying our hands! Saying "Rock Climbers Are Free" Then the Climbers would bring every person they knew. They did not climb but used everything. The Climbers would come down with as much as 20 people, pushing strollers and carrying babies. People came up and saw the sign about Climbers being FREE, they would say they were climbing. Carrying their ice chests, chairs and such. Some would set up camp past the pavement in the back and in the fields. Telling my wife "your area stops at the pavement!" Then we were told Anyone Walking Around could walk in for FREE. But there is a sign at the front saying Walk Ins $3.00 each! This had everyone from the bottom of the canyon up going crazy. Of course, when we asked for the money, the people would tell us "We have Never Paid Before!" and/or we will go to the FREE Place, the other Day Use that had no one (Host) right there. We explained that the prices were the same, but it is On The HONOR SYSTEM to pay! My wife NEVER had so many Rude, Nasty Women, yelling nasty things at her and throwing things at her before! She pretty much gave up coming out of the RV. But you do get to close the gates at 10 pm and kick everyone out for the night. I was exhausted every night by then. Barely had the strength to do the paperwork and balance out the money. Take my shower and to bed. Up and open the gates at 7 am. Dig out the firepits, clean each site, only 15, 14 not counting ours. But what a mess every day. Then clean the bathrooms. The bathrooms on the weekend had to be clean every 2 to 3 hours. Tried to keep the people out of the water due to being a WaterShed area for the drinking water for Salt Lake. This was a constant thing to be on top of and a losing battle. I will be writing a story about this place, so keep an eye out for it! Also NO DOGS! Which is also a losing battle and due to this a RUDE/NASTY Lady came up in a Red Jeep with her boyfriend driving. When my wife pointed at the NO DOG sign, they lady started spurting out a long list of nasty words. There are 5 signs from the foot of the mountain up the 2.6 miles to us and 2 signs right at the booth my wife was standing by the booth with a sign saying NO DOGS! But the lady tried to reach out and touch my wife, and could not get across her boyfriend, so she flicked a beer bottle top at my wife and hit her! From the phone (which the company supplies) to most women and some men, talking with my wife, they would be so Rude! I would tell them the same thing right behind her words, they would take what I said as law but my wife would almost always get the rudest remarks. Never in all the places we have been, has people been so Nasty. On the other hand, the managers were the GREATEST! Never had such trying to help in anyway, people! Rick and Karla, were great but the toll of these places really got to them at times. So it was not just us, EVERYONE that was a Camp Host this year here, were going nuts with the visitors! Keep Checking Back For More Places!

Make Sure They Have Your Back

Keep In Mind and Ask What Their Stance Is!

ALWAYS, MAKE SURE The people in charge above you, will have your back. Will They back you up when you tell the visitors the rules? Or after you explain the rules and the visitor is rude and hurts you, do they come back with "Well next time treat them with kid gloves", or "Next time let them come in for FREE". AWARD Them for trying or actually hurting me!! NO! I don't think so! So make sure they will back you up when you say "NO DOGS", When they made the RULES/LAWS! I expect if visitors are breaking the rules for the Rangers/Police/Managers to back me up when I call them with unruly visitor! I am there to INFORM the visitors of the rules and they are there to back me up and INFORCE the rules. Or just change the rules to "Let The Visitors Do What Ever They Want!" I hope next season is much nicer!
