Canberra, Australia's Capital City, a beauty

Australia, harsh land inhabited with beautiful people and Cities
Flying in from magical Thailand, I was riveted to my window, waiting for my first glimpse of this rugged land. The coast land, coming in from the north, then the countryside. It starts slowly, with a kilometre, then ten, then hundreds and finally thousands of kilometres. Once one has traversed almost three thirds of a continent. What has one seen? Basically, varying degrees of burnt sand and the odd tree. Now as you approach the lusher areas and the scenery changes. What has one seen? Basically, varying degrees of burnt grass albeit with more trees.
At about this time it suddenly dawns on you, just what it took to tame this land. From my perspective, it took, a very special type of person to do this. Beautiful Australian people. I doff my hat to you.

Canberra today
Old and new houses of Parliament
Standing from where Griffin first made his great plans for Canberra. Down the central highway and across the lake, one can see Australia's Houses of Parliament. The first colonial style building (white) are the old houses of Parliament. Looking further up,one can see a type of triangle with the Australian flag fluttering in the breeze. Thereunder are the new Houses of Parliament. Very, very impressive. Now this is a long range shot and I will lead you closer as we begin to visit them.
Now the reason for the triangle which dwarfs the building is symbolic. This being that the legs represent the people of Australia, and subsequently, Parliament is under them as it should be and not the other way around. Beautiful.

The new House of Parliament
Hereon is the scenario which leads you to the entrance of Parliament. Beautiful. Notice the flag poles with no flags and the old House of Parliament in the background. Parliament was not sitting on the day I went, however some University kids were being handed their degree's in this impressive building. Apart from that there were the tourists and visitors. Busy, even when not sitting.
Now I am going to go back to my old favourite, the photo module gallery and lead you on from there and some other scenes of the landscape. It saves one having to write a monologue and it's true, every picture tells a story, oftentimes better.

- The photos of the House of Parliament (both) are fascinating - absolutely! There's a lot to be said for the triangle as explained - a positive. The flag being the size of a bus - unbelievable when equated with the building! Brilliant architecture and generally, after readying this a person really wants to go there to take more in! Many thanks for an interesting lens Spook!
