The CANNONDALE BAD BOY 2009

Let me introduce you to the ultimate URBAN bike. Cannondale call it "The bike that began the matte black revolution. The Bad Boy is fast, versatile, and represents the ultimate in authentic utility. It's the urban answer for an unpretentious, go-fast bike - complete with Cannondale's aluminum fabrication expertise." Here's ALL you need to know about the Cannondale BadBoy, why I need to have one and why so many people want one!!!!

The Ultimate Urban Bike

The Bad Boy was developed when riders looked for a dual purpose bike - one they could ride on the road for training but one they could also race with. The idea became so simply: Just to be able to change the wheels! The Cannondale mountain bike product manager at the time found out about it and said "We've gotta paint this thing matte black and bring this bad boy to
the market." And so the Bad Boy was born and it was painted matte black.

It's stylish, it's versatile and has the option of switching out the wheelset on disc-equipped models. It is the ultimate hybrid mountain bike.

If you're cycling to work everyday or cycling round town regularly you need a comfortable ride. The rider geometry on the bad boy is specifically designed for urban terrain.

Bad Boy Review

I bought one of these BAD BOY's 3 months ago and haven't looked back. I got the ultra model and a pair of the octopus pedals. All my friends were so jealous and wanted to take it for a trial!

Summary:
Fast -Tick!
Versatile - Tick!
Cool - Tick!
Ex[pensive - Yes, but worth it.

It definitely lives up to it's potential and tag name of "ultimate urban bike". Perfect for the city streets I cycle daily but equally I can change out the 700c's for the 28's and I'm all set for mountain trailing.

Biggest weakness has to be the grips - stock grips were just not reliable so had to change them quite soon but that was a minor nuisance compared to how much I loved (and still love) riding this one.

The riding position took some time to get used to - quite a bit different from your standard mountain bike position. Also the lack of suspension was strange at first but you get used to that too quite quickly when you feel how quick the power transfers to the wheels. ZOOM! Love it. The gears change so smoothly as well which just gets you going so much easier. I cut 10 minutes off my usual commute on my first day (and I don't travel a huge distance to work). Without the usual suspension it can feel quite a hard ride at first and the royal viper saddle may not suit everybody. I've been changing up the saddle and am likely to settle on a Brooks B17 Special.

The single fork (? not really a fork with only one side!) means the wheel doesn't have to be removed in case a repairing a puncture (which I've only had to do once so far). Also means removing the wheels is a more accessible job.

The only downside is trying to keep it safe. People who know cannondale see expensive and are more likely to try to steal it so I have had to keep it well locked and mostly out of sight.

Nice lens, and very nice bike. I especially like the front fork--though actually it's not a fork because it's only got one tine, so to speak. The one thing this bike is missing, to truly make it the ultimate urban bicycle, is a Brooks saddle. Anyway, 5 stars, and I'm lensrolling this to my Brooks bicycle saddle lens.
