Canon EOS Rebel T1i Camera vs. Canon EOS Rebel XSi Camera

Ranked #21,367 in Computers & Electronics, #414,605 overall

Canon EOS Rebel Camera might be the most widely known SLR series in the past ten years

Canon EOS Rebel cameras are in high demand right now. No secret. Of course, Canon is a company that doesn't need any introduction. It manufactures a wide array of products. But it is very well known in the photography field. I have always felt Canon makes the best cameras. The new trend of the last years is the digital cameras. Among this line, the Canon EOS Rebel series might possibly be the most widely known SLR camera series of the past ten years. And in this series there are two models that are fighting for supremacy. The Canon EOS Rebel Camera T1i and Canon EOS Rebel XSi. In this short review we will try to present the pro's and con's of these two flagship models.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i Camera

People who have bought the Canon EOS Rebel Camera T1i model say that LCD display is a significant change on the Rebel Xti, which has now a 2.5" LCD display. If you recall, both the original Digital Rebel and the Rebel XT had 1.8" screens, which looks comically small these days. The LCD has 230,000 pixels, which makes it competitive with the other entry-level D-SLRs out there. As is the case with most D-SLRs, the LCD is only used for reviewing photos and navigating menus -- it's not for composing photos.

The low light pictures is an advantage that people do appreciate. The 18-55 mm kit lens that comes with the camera is light and balances well with the camera body, although it's fairly slow. But there are a lot of Canon options with the compatible EF and EF-S prime lenses that you have.

With Canon EOS Rebel Camera XTi the speed is to be considered because the shutter is fast, though slightly sluggish compared to the Nikon D80 and the higher end Canon D30.

Unfortunately, like the Rebel XT, the XTi lacks a spot meter; it supplies only center-weighted average, and partial center-weighted metering. This amounts to a serious oversight. Spot meters are critical in many situations where a subject is backlit.

Overall, the Cannon Rebel EOS XTi Camera takes good, solid pictures under a decent variety of circumstances; particularly in high to moderate light levels. It's an ideal camera for photo hobbyists interested in using an affordable camera with some pro features that will improve their skills, take good pictures, and leave you just a little hungry for more.

Canon EOS Rebel XSi Camera

Canon EOS Rebel Camera XS1 was rated #1 Digital SLR and it is a great camera. I highly recommend this if you want to go with a digital SLR camera. It is the best camera anyone could ever own. Even photographers for that matter. I would reccommend this to any camera enthusiast, a general soccer mom or a family photographer, taking photos of the kids and family. This is truly a "must have" for everyone looking to get a new Camera! Crystal Clear Video, High Zoom Capabilities, 12 MP, ease-of-use, SDHC card capability, Sleek Design, Lightweight, Portable.

It is well worth mentioning the fact that the older lenses from Canon 35 MM film camera work with it as well. For a first DSLR, this is one camera that has enough features borrowed from the higher end 40D that will allow the beginning photographer to grow into it.
The camera comes with a big 3" LCD display, is compact and relatively light weighted. The 3.5 fps is also nice. It is great value compared to the Nikon camera. Although the Canon EOS Rebel Camera XSi comes with a standard IS lens, the lens is slow and doesn't focus well, but it's included in the kit now, as Image Stablization. If you are serious in taking great pictures, consider upgrading to a Canon IS 17-85 mm lens.

Though the Canon EOS Rebel XSi Camera did have a metal body, this XSi has a plastic body and the "on" led is not replaced by an ISO button. It is really worth upgrading for in terms of image quality and speed. You will not find a need to buy a flash unit since the newer XSi built in flash is more than good enough for the pictures.

Dance performances have got to be one of the toughest shoots - low light, slow shutter speeds, subjects in constant motion, uneven lighting (spot lights, etc.). If you are looking to this kind of subjects, you will be surprised, especially if you use the Sports setting. The continuous shooting mode is very nice, although you have to stop occasionally for about 30 seconds for the SD card to catch up. You can shot over 800 pictures on a single battery charge, maybe two nights in a row.

Some users mention that past 100 ISO, there is a steep drop in sharpness and image quality. Overall, you will love Canon EOS Rebel Camera XSi at 100 ISO. If it's too dark for 200 ISO, bust out the flashes, because the noise is somehow painful.

Interesting lens. I owned a Canon AE-1 for many years. (Sold it on eBay earlier this year.) Great camera.

I purchased a simple point-and-shoot digital camera, but am thinking of upgrading to an SLR type. I miss those days.

Nice lens. Keep up the good work.
