About Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake was developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers for flood protection and water conservation. Construction of the man-made lake began in 1958 and ended in 1964. Canyon Lake was created by damming up the Guadalupe River. Canyon Lake reached peak water conservation level in 1968. It protects 250 square miles of land from flooding.

The lake has eight public parks that are maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers. There are camping, fishing, boating, picnic, and swimming facilities.

Today, people from surrounding areas and beyond enjoy what the lake has to offer. For more statistics on levels, temperatures, or flow rates you can visit Canyon Lake Texas on Wikipedia
