Does Carlos "borrow" his material? Yes, according to fellow comedian Joe Rogan. Carlos has been accused by Joe Rogan (very publicly) and other comedians of stealing jokes. Carlos adamantly denies the claims, saying that the jokes were his or that they were so broad they could belong to no one.

a.k.a. Carlos Mencia
So the story goes..."Carlos Mencia" was born to parents Magdelena Mencía (a name for which I find great humor) and Roberto Holness. As Mom and Dad were fighting at the time of his birth, Mom Magdelena refused to give the child Daddy Roberto's surname. And, so the baby became, Ned Arnel Mencía. Out of respect for his Dad, Ned went by his name until age 18 anyway...Ned Arnel Holness. You know him as Carlos Mencia. How many names do you have?

I guess if you're going to steal something you might as well steal from the best, but to take from Bill Cosby, Himself, is just asking to be called out on it. Who hasn't seen this routine? It is a classic. My grandmother used to quote from this set, and I've heard 7 year old kids repeat some of the jokes. A professional comedian should not be telling the same stolen jokes as a second grader is while eating his cereal.

- Interesting lens and not one I was expecting to find in this category. Stealing someone else's work and passing it off as your own is dishonest and you are right to raise the issue.

- Mencia is one of the worst comics. Luckily, I think his star has faded because of all of this joke stealing. I tried to watch his show once and I couldn't sit through it, I was bored to tears.

- Mencia has never really impressed me as being all that funny. Then, perhaps the jokes he tells were meant to be told by other comics.

- Good question. I am a stand up comic and I will explain how. Joe and Carlos (Ned) started around the same time doing open mics and small one-nighters. Joe noticed that Carlos would start using jokes at these shows that other performers were doing at open mic. Joe often confronted him about it, and Carlos would deny it. The reason it is such a big deal to comics is that when he steals a joke from an comic trying to make it, Carlos will tell it on t.v. and HBO and the young comic can no longer use that joke because everyone heard Carlos tell it. It is not right. It would be like Miley Cyrus taking a song a struggeling performer wrote and make money off of it, and leave the performer struggeling.

I don't know how you find Carlos Mencia funny in the least. Back when he did his one standup routine that comedy central aired for a while before the mind of Mencia came about, he was cool(in my eyes). That stand up routine was very well done. Than i watched the first couple of episodes of his show. It was dissapointing garbage. Really, a midget bashing electronics? A rich rapper from saudi arabia? carlos comparing penis sizes of different races? it was all fucking terrible. I didn't laugh once at that show, and not because it was un-p.c. but because it just plain sucked. As for stealing shit I never knew he was doing that until i saw these videos but, you cant deny what the video's showed, and it would only make sense that he would do this, as his material is like what I said before, fucking awful. Anyway Joe Rogan may be enough of dick to call people out like this but Carlos Mencia(or should i say ned holness) is an ass,-

- ok so steal a song from someone----and its a big deal, you are in deep shit, sued for it. Steal what someone has written in their book, plagerism. But it's ok for someone to use other peoples DOCUMENTED AND RECORDED STANDUP?? Same thing as stealing the script from "Men in Black" and calling it "Dudes in black suits" and passing it off as your own. People like you need to wake up already, he's a theif and i'm sure if he did your material, you'd be having a different opinion on this one, wouldn't ya

- ok but its a joke jokes are meant to be funny and told by everyone but i do agree if he cant come up with his own then he needs to leave but he didnt get a show with 4 seasons for one joke lol. this proves he was funny and could tell his own jokes and i heard he got permission from some of the people like the wall joke he told his friend gave him permission to use it.

- joe cant move on or write another joke wtf? its a simple joke. but when george lopez steals everything is good huh? these guys are bitches and get burned because in mind of mencia they make fun of crackers. its a simple joke and dont compare it to a car or a song. anyone can make a joke and you guys take it like its something really valuable. they dont know if carlos had alot of pressure he had to keep on making joke every week to satisfy people and joe has months or weeks. joe dont make a big deal cuz if your that good of a comedian just sit on a stool for 10 min and come up with another one
