Tired Profile Picture? Cartoon Portrait Avatars are Hot!
Ranked #552 in Arts & Design, #5,983 overall
Need a new Profile Icon? Try a Cartoon Portrait Avatar. Realisitic NOT, but Fun
This is my avatar history and review of cartoon portrait generator websites, and online avatar makers. The following shows my reviews and results. I've also included a listing of avatar makers, and profile or photo generators, that I have yet to test.
<--- Me? Not exactly, but it does show some similar characteristics. This is a the last poll winner, but dressed and decorated for the season. This face has won the last 10 polls, so it's safe to say it's a keeper. If it wins again, I'll be using a Spring-themed look. :D
I've had quite a few online profile icons, also known as modern Avatars, over the years. I have chosen from cartoons, funny characters, made banners, and I even spotlighted specific merchandise items I have on sale. With the addition of the numerous interactive Cartoon picture creators, there is no limit to the creative possibilities to capture a fun representation of yourself.
I would also like to ask for you help keeping me out of my avatar rut since I tend to keep one for years... Won't you vote for your choice of which cartoon avatar you think I should use for my next face here on Squidoo and other online communities?Enjoy and thanks for your assistance.
Have you thought about trying a Cartoon Profile Avatar?
The newest craze seems to be the Cartoon-Style Portrait Avatar.
I tried a few of them. Lots of options and styles.
Picking pre-made parts to make a whole never quite works out the way you think it will. My results below confirmed that, oh, I would say, without question. You'll see what I mean soon.
But it's fun, so give it a shot and see what you can come up with. It may not look exactly like you, but hey, that's half the fun and adds to the mystery of an anonymous avatar. (Who the heck is that person behind the pink furry monster?).
What's better? Real Photo vs. Avatar?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byReal Photo of me because I want to share with the world Who I Am...

I like to see real people instead of Avatars..But I didn't have picture of myself on the moment when I create my first lens. I prefer to use my real photo because I want people to identify with me instead of a graphic design. I update my photos often because I want people to know me in "real time" so to speak. I don't like the idea of being a certain age and having a photo depicting me years younger than my current age. I also like to see real images of people when I read their lenses...it's just me.

Both photos and avatars have their own role to play. It depends on the site. I'm not afraid to show the real me, but sometimes it is fun to have an alter ego. Even real photos can be misleading at times (like using a photo from 20 years ago).

My Previous Avatars: No resemblence at all, but there is a reason...
An emblem for a Yamaha Roadstar(166)
A little back story here...Originally My husband and I created this name on eBay to buy and sell car & motorcycle parts.
Well... he still buys car parts and accessories. I buy, but mainly sell, other vintage to new merchandise. The Roadstar166 name, since it's inception, has built up over 100 positive feedback ratings in eBay and iOffer. I understand it's now a lot harder to sell or even buy with a 0 rating than it was when we started. I hate the thought of giving up our great reputation just to change the name.
Auto part sales?
Not yet, anyway, but if I could get him to part with the extra's taking possession over the garage...
invading the basement...
staking claim in the spare bedroom...
and OMG!....
creeping into our bedroom!
These early Avatars are a little bit closer to the real me...
but without showing any of my facial features
This was another iOffer avatar for my Roadstar166 iOffer store. -->Yeah, I know. It's just "scratching" the surface of the real me, but I am blonde and do exist on coffee while I'm online
Animated to jitter something fierce...
Should I say VERY Appropriate?
My original avatar, the Flame, was in reference to my name here, other places, and more importantly my crafting obsession. I make soy candles. Yeah I know..."Well, that's obvious". But that is my "brand" so I've stuck with it here on Squidoo up until my last voting results . I am updating my avatar here often, so I need your help to help stay out of my usual keep it for years avatar-rut since my name should take care of the "branding", but I'll touch more on that later. About that Avatar Rut I mentioned earlier...
About that Avatar-Rut. I do believe it is a real place. I swear I do. I have seen helpless people trapped there for YEARS. Are you? Maybe someone you know or have seen under that dusty and faded Avatar? Now is the time to freshen up that tired old avatar, so read on for the CURE. Don't forget to tell your friends that here is THE remedy. They may be relieved that someone noticed their malaise and took pity on them. :D

Want more than just an Avatar? Zwinky
Very popular with many. Can be used as an avatar by myspace, facebook and other online and gaming communities. Also can be used to play dress up.Bonuses included are Smiley Central, Cursor Mania, Popular Screensavers, and the the MyWebSearch® search box and Search Assistant.
I have chosen not to try it as MyWebSearch Toolbar is installed prior to creating a Zwinky. It may just be my paranoia talking, but I have had past issues with this toolbar and a file is automatically removed by Firefox 1.5.0.2 and later releases. Since I use Firefox as my primary browser, I'd rather not take a chance on this application, but I feel it is my mission not to make an uninformed judgment, but to inform others of possible options.
Read the End User License Agreement prior to creating your Zwinky, and if you can accept the terms, then by all means, do proceed.

Have you yearned to be a Simpson?
Here's your Chance!
You can register if you like to save your Simpson Avatars and even create a DVD case with your Simpson self ~or~ Save by clicking on down arrow icon, then selecting jpg file. Saves to download file. I saved to my Pictures file for easy access. I also chose to create just a headshot by using Print Screen, opening in MS paint and cropping.

Doppelme, please.
Created easily by using basic choices. More is available if you register.
Wants you to register to save, but Right Click and Save does work for this one.

Lloyd's TSB Me
OK, it's a Bank., but they are cute, Share on FaceBook, Twitter, bookmarking, blogs and more.
The only downloads available are for sharing on social sites, or you can save by registering your email address and Lloyd's will send you a link to edit your character further. but I liked my "Me" so much that I took a screen shot (print screen) and cropped it in MS Windows Paint. I chose to use the whole body with character name, but very well could have cropped it to appear as just a head shot, too.
Oh... I didn't find this. They found me and wrote me a note here at Squidoo.
Wow, I feel like a star. :D

Simplistic, but maybe the popularity of Wii has given this avatar maker a boost.
Several options to save, but I just used Export to save as an avatar.
