Who is Catherine Bach

Just about every teenage boy who came of age in the late 1970's and early 1980's will immediately recognize the name of Catherine Bach. As one of the most recognizable icons of the era, Bach was an integral part of the cast for the television series, The Dukes of Hazzard. Not only did she add sass and looks to the show, Bach and her signature shorts also added a great deal to feminine apparel during the years of the show's run on network television.

Born on 1 March 1954, Bach began her acting career in the early 1970's. Some of her earlier work in small parts in movies led to catching the attention of producers when casting for the pilot episode of The Dukes of Hazzard. Bach proved to be in the right place at the right time. She had the looks that would attract male viewers to the show, and the talent necessary to take mediocre lines and turn them into something that would amuse and delight the audience. While her looks made her easy on the eyes of teenage boys everywhere the series aired, her sense of style also endeared her to millions of young women at the same time.

Catherine Bach's major contribution to American culture during the seven years of the Dukes' run were definitely her trademark shorts that she often wore on the show. So popular were the short shorts that in very little time, retail stores everywhere were carrying similar models, touting them as "Daisy Dukes", after Bach's character on the series. No young lady's summer wardrobe was considered complete without at least one pair of the shorts, much to the delight of boys everywhere.

After the show ended in 1985, Bach continued to act in both stage and screen appearances. From time to time, she participates in reunions and festivals, such as DukesFest, held by fans of the television series. An accomplished actress, Bach also exhibited a great deal of class when a movie adaptation of the series was widely panned by critics, especially the performance of the new blond Daisy Duke. Rather than join in the criticism, she instead focused on other matters and encouraged others to do likewise. Once again proving that Catherine Bach is not only sexy, sassy, & beautiful she is also one classy lady!
