Cat Toys
All cats love to play so why not give your friend a toy she can play with?
Cat toys are effective tools for developing the mental and physical abilities of your furry friend. They are available in many different materials such as knits, cloth, real fur, fleece, rope and leather and are a must for every cat.
But remember no matter how interesting and colorful they may be... cat toys are intended for cat use and are not appropriate for other pets or children.
Sometimes the simplest things make the best cat toys.
Cats are attracted to motion. They will always love anything that bounces around and simulates the movement of a live insect or mouse.
They also love the rolling action of a ball. Cats are naturally curious and love to hunt. So providing toys they can swat at will be a big hit. These toys engage their eye-paw coordination.
If you think that cat toys are expensive consider this... Often the best cat toys are not the pre made ones from the store.
Have you ever noticed how cats love to crawl into paper bags and boxes? Some of my cat's favorite toys are made from old socks and cat nip. Balls made of aluminum foil and pipe cleaners bent into odd shapes also offer endless hours of entertainment.
The best cat toy, of course, is the one your cat loves and will play with for hours on end no matter it's cost.
Cat Toys have many positive health benefits, which include...
- Keeping cats alert and curious about the world around them
- Preventing boredom and therefore destructive behaviour
- Keeping muscles strong and Flexible Teaches hunting skills
- Keeping Claws in tiptop condition, essential for self-defence and climbing
- Cat toys are perfect for scratching, napping, or playing
So be sure to provide your furry feline friend with plenty of cat toys. Especially if you are busy at work much of the time.
Though they are not substitute for your attention, a house full of stimulating cat toys with interesting shapes, colors and sounds is the next best thing. Cat toys such as these are sure to keep your cat's attention for hours of play.
Pets bring so much joy to our lives it is our responsibility to make sure they enjoy healthy, happy lives, themselves.

Adopt A Cat Today!
It's the perfect time to visit your local shelter or animal rescue and adopt a cat.
If you adopt a cat from an animal shelter or pet rescue, you save the life of one of the 70 million stray and homeless cats in the United States. To find your local shelter or pet rescue to adopt a cat start by looking in the Yellow Pages or Google. Another place to visit is ASPCA.org Adopt a Cat from a Pet Rescue or Shelter?
Pet Rescue Organizations... These volunteer-driven groups are springing up in abundance all over the U. Rescue groups come in all shapes and sizes. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and foster homeless felines until safe and caring permanent homes are found for them.
Rescues are very careful to make sure their adoptable dogs and cats go to the right homes. Many pet rescue's require a home visit by a member of the organization before you will be approved to adopt a cat from them.
Animal shelters... The pet adoption experience at different types of shelters can be vastly different. Shelters are sometimes dismal, sad places. Unfortunately in many places shelter facilities are stretched way beyond their limits.
However the volunteers try to provide a bright environment for visitors, as well as for the resident cats. By adopting your new pet from a shelter instead of going to a breeder will help reduce the strain.
And no matter where you find the new furry love of your life... be sure to spay or neuter your pet. This is the best way to break the cycle of unwanted, homeless cats.
Shelters will normally allow you to spend some time in a visiting room with different cats so you can interact with them and get a feel for their individual mannerisms and personalities
Both Shelters and Pet Rescues charge an adoption fee that can vary but is usually between $75 - $120. There is usually a discount when you adopt two (2) cats at the same time. This is good for you, good for the cats and good for the shelter. A win win all the way around.
Adoption fees usually include spay or neuter surgery, deworming, flea treatment (if necessary), FIV and FeLV testing, microchip identification, vet exam and all necessary vaccinations.
So please, when it's time to bring a new cat or kitten into your life. Visit your local shelter or pet rescue.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions... So Many Cats For Adoption!
Should you chose kittens or cats for adoption into your loving home?
Something to keep in mind is if you already have a cat in your home
Please know that cats are territorial animals and will see the new cat as an interloper. Cats, at first, offer tolerance without trust but gradually will come to see the new-comer as a companion and playmate.
Be patient and understanding of your old friend and the new addition to your family.
Both will be wary and off balance for a while. They will both need extra attention and guidance from you. But with your loving help everyone will soon settle in.
Cats are very social and affectionate, but they are also very much individuals.
Cats may not be the solitary creatures we think them to be after all. Cats are easy to care for and taking care of two is barely more effort than taking care of one. So please consider adopting two cats. This will allow them to keep one another company while you are at work. Also, Kittens learn socialization and security much better in pairs and will not exhibit as much destructive behavior when they have each other to wrestle with and cuddle with
Kittens or Cats For Adoption?
Kittens are very cute, have a great deal of energy, and are fun to watch as they play. Kittens wrestle and play very aggressively, are easily stimulated. BUT they need constant attention.
Kittens can be destructive... tipping over plants, chewing wires, climbing your curtains, and climbing your legs. Kittens, especially when left alone, may destroy your furniture, your phone wires, your plants or your shoes.
Kittens require a much larger financial commitment in their first year. Kittens require more care than adult cats and, as their immune system is immature, may get sick more often than adult cats do.
If you are considering adopting a kitten, think about adopting one that is 5-6 months old or older. Older kittens are still little and cute, but they are less fragile than the wee babies and are old enough to have the shots they need to safely be around other animals.
Adopt an adult cat and see what a difference it makes in your life. Adult cats have many advantages, such as being less mischievous, having a personality already formed, and being used to the litter box. Also since they are more difficult to place they are often much cheaper than kittens and as they are older and have established immune systems they will get sick less often, saving you time, money and worry over vet visits.
When looking at cats for adoption remember...
Cats can live up to 15 years or longer and thus, when you are ready to adopt, do so with this awesome expectation in mind.
