Stomach Pain - Acid Reflux - What you can do about it
Stomach Pain Causes And Acid Reflux Disease
Our body uses gastric and stomach acids to break down the food that we eat. Normally, after the digestion in the stomach, the food is delivered by the digestive muscles to the intestines for extra digestion. But in patients who have acid reflux disease, the acidic stomach contents are moved back to the esophagus, which then causes inflammation. Cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine, pregnancy, and fatty foods are some factors which worsens acid reflux conditions.

The Irritable Bowel Syndrome Plague
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is said to affect between 25 and 50 million people in the US alone. Why such high numbers? We'll discuss the numbers along with talking about how to treat IBS. It turns out that treatment and cause have a lot in common and if you suffer from IBS you don't have to put up with it any more.
The numbers of IBS sufferers are directly related to the diets of processed foods that are striped of fiber and nutrition that many of us are eating these days. If you suffer from irritable bowel disease, what is your diet like? Do you get lots of green leafy vegetables, fruits, and other fiber rich foods everyday? Or like many of us is your life so hurried that you skip breakfast, then maybe grab a sandwich for lunch and perhaps some carry out or a frozen dinner at night? Think on these things, and on how many of us eat this way and you will begin to understand the high numbers of victims suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.
Yes, believe it or not, the typical American diet is responsible for a great many civilization created diseases and conditions such as IBS.
IBS is often accompanied by constipation. Both of these conditions are greatly helped by proper amounts of fiber from food in your diet. Fiber is stripped out of so many of the convenience foods that we consume and it is no wonder that these conditions are plaguing our society. If you have IBS you may be tempted to take fiber supplements, these may cause you to increase your regularity but they do not help with the bloating and stomach pain. You need good fiber from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Likewise laxatives are more harmful than helpful. Laxatives are not intended for long term use and while they may help out with the occasional round of constipation they will do you more harm than good if you suffer from IBS and constipation: you must get to a healthy, fiber rich diet.
On the other hand IBS may be accompanied by diarrhea. Whether you realize it or not the same things that help IBS and constipation will also help with IBS and diarrhea. It is counter-intuitive as so many truths are, but getting to the diet you need (fiber rich) allows your bodies powerful healing mechanisms to work. The nutrients in a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and other high fiber food just cannot be gotten anywhere else.
A variety of medicines may be prescribed for IBS including, amazingly, anti-depressants. And doctors may prescribe different anti-depressants depending on whether your IBS is accompanied by constipation or diarrhea. It is an insane trend in medicine to just prescribe for symptoms. Sure people are slow to change bad habits such as their diets but most people are never even given the information that will truly solve their health problems.
One note about increasing fiber in your diet: begin gradually. Perhaps a salad at lunch and/or dinner. Perhaps an apple at night. Take it slow as your body will need to acclimate itself to the new healthier diet.
Along with increasing your fiber drink lots of water and avoid excessive fats. This doesn't mean avoid meat, it means don't fry everything, don't have a bag of chips everyday. Other foods to avoid are soft drinks and anything else containing high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup is showing up in all kinds of food and your body just cannot properly digest it.
You can overcome IBS and other digestive problem symptoms and become pain-free in as little as a day. I invite you to visit http://www.StomachPainCauses.com and learn more actions that you can take to get past irritable bowel syndrome.
