Celtic Wedding Rings

It is amazing the amount of history that is in just a round piece of jewelry. However, the history of wedding rings dates back to the start of time. It is amazing that a custom like this has manage to stand strong after all these years. People today still take the meaning of a wedding ring to heart, just like the Celtic wedding rings. Today, most of the wedding rings are made out of gold. Back in the day, almost all Filigree Celtic wedding rings were made of gold. It used to be thought to be bad luck to have a wedding ring not made of gold. Some people even believed it to be illegal to marry someone without gold. However, many people started to question this story and this meaning. Later on, many people think that this story was started by women to make sure that they got a gold wedding ring and not something that just looked like gold. When you think about it, it's a pretty good idea masked with a bad lie. Now, you can see that Celtic wedding rings are made with pretty much any metal. Gold is still one of the most chosen, but not everyone can afford gold ones.

Celtic Wedding Rings

Today they say that titanium Celtic Wedding Rings are the most used. It beats out gold by just a fraction of a percent, but still the titanium wedding rings have come a long way. Some other Celtic wedding ring history that you may want to know is that the ring had to be a perfect fit. If the ring did not fit absolutely perfectly, they were going to have a bad marriage. In fact, some women would refuse to marry a man if his ring did not fit perfectly. If the ring was too tight, then that would mean that a painful jealousy would come between the two. However, if the ring was too loose, then careless acts would endanger their marriage everyday of their lives. Later on, this too was found out to just be a bunch of hear say, but it kept people scared for more years than what it should have. A lot of people also felt like their wedding rings could perform miracles just by holding them. They thought that they could increase money and wealth just by wishing for it with their wedding ring in hand. Later on, however, as more and more people did not get wealthy, this part of the faith died out.

Today, a lot of the thoughts about wedding rings have changed, but the hand and the way we wear them (as well as the overall meaning behind them) has not changed at all. As said before, there is something amazing in the fact that people can keep a tradition alive this long. The reason why it lives on today is because people want to believe that they can find their true counterpart. Just remember, the meaning behind the wedding ring still stands true today. It is something that we can all learn to love and be happy with.
