Scottish Music of a rare passion and joy

"Battlefield Band play Scottish music of a rare passion and joy. Inspired by their rich heritage of Celtic music and fired by the strength and vibrancy of today's Scottish cultural scene, which indeed they have done much to create and fuel, they have led, and been at the forefront, of a great revival in Scottish music for over 30 years." - Robin Morton, Temple Records

30 years of mixing old and new music, adapting to changes

The band started over 30 years ago by four student friends in the Glasgow suburb of Battlefield. They have always mixed traditional Scottish instruments such as the fiddle, whistle, Highland pipes and small pipes with the bouzouki (a Greek instrument adopted by the Celtic music community) and synthesizer. The Battlefield Band has gone through many changes in its lineup, with Alan Reid being a constant presence. They have adapted to these changes, keeping the sound fresh and creative over the years.
