Irish music, Celtic music radio and a lot more
LiveIreland.com is primarily an Internet radio station that broadcasts Irish and Celtic music 24 hours a day. Channel 1 broadcasts a mix of traditional music and at times features live DJs who can be seen on webcam as they do their shows. They also participate in chat rooms, so listeners can interact with the DJs and others during the shows. People also chat outside of times when live DJs are present. Currently, the best times to find a DJ in the studio are on weekdays sometime between 6 and 11 p.m. Dublin time. Not all hours are covered, but there's always music.
Channel 2 broadcasts a mix of contemporary Irish music, while channels 3, 4, and 5 present magazine programs and documentary features.

More than an Internet radio station
The traditional music on Channel 1 is the focus of interest for people who gather in chat rooms and LiveIreland's own social network, my.liveIreland.com, billed as "Ireland's premium social network." Membership is free and open to people anywhere in the world. There are over 1,400 members. Members can post in forums and discussions as well as post photos, videos, and audio. It's a good place to keep up with events on the station and Irish music in general.LI is definitely covering a lot of bases on the Internet. It's the first Irish music station available on iTunes. For the iPod iTouch and the iPhone, it's available on FlyTunes. LI is also part of Second Life. Dublin in Second Life re-creates part of Dublin, with the LI studios near the O'Connell Bridge (in real life, the studios are on Crow Street in the Temple Bar section of the city). LI can be heard in Dublin SL's Blarney Stone Pub.

- Klara McDonnell's blog on Blogspot.com
- Klara McDonnell was the first DJ I saw on liveIreland.com. I was using StumbleUpon one Wednesday afternoon in February when it took me to LI. I was lucky to find her there because it was her last Wednesday appearance before she started doing shows on Monday (currently 6-8 pm Dublin time). She loves doing the show, is very interactive with people in the chat room, and was part of LI's experiments with using the Stickam service.

- Great collection of info! Is it okay if I put a featured lens link to it on my Irish scenic photo lens? I play trad Irish music on fiddle, guitar and bodhran, by the way; and have been studying the Irish language off and on for some time now...
