Meditation is a very personal experience. As you learn different spiritual meditation techniques you will come across many techniques that may have you feeling a bit overwhelmed. You must figure out what you hope to achieve from you meditations and then find a system that works best to meet those goals.
Some will want to meditate to help reduce stress and some of you will want to meditate to enhance your spiritual growth. Some will even want to use meditation for spiritual energy healing. They are all achievable if you put the time and effort into it.
When we use spiritual meditation by using our chakras we are unblocking neural pathways in the body and allowing our energy to flow more freely. This will help bring about both physical and spiritual healing. Heal the Body and Heal the Mind. The key is too be consistent, have faith and confidence in what you are doing.

A Zen Story
Empty your cup!

There's an old Zen story that goes like this:
A young man had read all the books he could find about Zen.
He heard about a great Zen master and requested an appointment with him to ask for teachings. When they were seated, the young man proceeded to tell the master everything he had understood from his reading, saying that Zen is about this and Zen is about that, on and on
After some time, the master suggested that they have tea. He performed the traditional tea ceremony while the student sat at attention, bowing when served, saying nothing. The master began to pour tea into the student's cup. He poured until it was full, and kept pouring.
The tea ran over the edge of the cup and onto the table. The master kept pouring as the tea ran off the table and onto the floor.
Finally, the student couldn't contain himself any longer. He shouted,
"Stop! Stop pouring! The cup is full - no more will go in!"
The master stopped pouring and said, "Just like this cup, your mind is full of your own opinions and preconceptions. How can you learn anything unless you first empty your cup?"

The brain is also physical but the question is "Does the brain report to something higher"?
I believe so. It's called the mind. It is who you really are.
The mind is not physical it's made of energy and often considered to be the soul. The mind being made of energy can not experience the physical world so it uses the physical or organic body to explore and experience this dimension.
Everything you touch, smell, taste, see and hear is converted into energy for the mind.
When you attempt to experience a dimensional realm, God, the Universe, Prana, the Force, call it what you will, you are trying with a physical body and an organic brain. You are using the wrong tool for the job.
The brain has gotten you far but it has reached it's limit to interpret this place you wish to understand.
Imagine that a horse has taken you across the land to the ocean shore. Do you now expect the horse to take you across the ocean? Of course not, but that is exactly what you are doing.
You must first learn of this other body. Learn to nourish it with energy and make it strong.
Allow your mind to interface with it so your dimensional brain can interpret dimensional places and experiences for you as your physical body does for you here.

Thoughts On Spiritual Meditation
Eastern -vs- Western

Eastern cultures have utilized this granddaddy of all self help techniques for centuries. You don't see the amount of stress related illnesses that we have. You don't see the rate of suicides that we have. You don't see the level of heart disease that we have. You don't see the rate of murders and violent assaults.
I know there are other variables involved, when it comes to disease and physical ailments but these other cultures have learned to minimize the risks.
One common theme is that they perform a daily ritual of some type of meditative practice. They are learning to relax there bodies and there minds and in the process they are learning to heal their bodies and their minds. Remember it all begins with the mind. What you think is what you will be.
It would seem our western culture has taken a different view and prefer to treat the disease of the mind and of the body with modern medicine rather than adopt a lifestyle that focuses on preventative measures rather than reactionary measures.
My aim would be to have as many people take a proactive approach to their lives as I can influence. I am convinced that we would all live a longer and healthier life free from many of the burdens that plague us in our later years. The saddest thing to see is our elderly population measuring their days by which doctors appointment they have to go to each day.
It is very sad and I only hope that those of you reading this may take these words to heart and start to transform your lives.
There is no magic pill that will undo all the years of neglect you have done to both your mind and your body.
A decision must be made today. Your happiness and life depend on it.
Your time is now to make a choice. Please make a wise one.
A Basic Meditation Quickie If You're Pressed For Time
For when you only have 10 minutes to spare

1. Sit in a chair, lay on the floor, lay on your bed. It doesn't matter as long as you are comfortable.
2. If you have music use it. Make sure it is relaxing and preferably without vocals. If you don't have music then don't worry about it.
3. Place two fingers on the area directly below your navel. This is your navel Chakra or the Manipura Chakra.
4. Focus all your attention on this area. Don't think. Don't internalize your thoughts, just focus on this area. Don't worry about your breathing don't repeat any mantras and just relax and focus.
5. After several minutes place your two fingers on your heart Chakra or the Anahata Chakra. It is located in the center of your chest almost directly over your heart. Repeat the same instructions as you did for your Manipura Chakra.
6. After several minutes place your two fingers on your Third Eye Chakra or the Ajna Chakra. This is the area directly above your brow ridge in the center of your forehead. Remain silent within. No thoughts and no expectations. Focus on this area and only this area. This one will be harder to stay silent because of the powerful energy and visions that it will produce.
That's all there is to it. As you find yourself with more time you should increase the length of the meditations. You will feel relaxed and energized at the same time.
Don't get discouraged if you have trouble quieting your mind. This will take time. There are some very good meditation tapes that strictly focus on helping you quiet your mind.

The very word Zen means "Meditation" or can loosely be translated as "State of Mind. It is more a lifestyle and a constant ritual to enhance our understanding about how we should live our daily lives. The persistence needed to live a life of Zen can be very difficult, but for those that are able, it can also be a very rewarding and meaningful lifestyle.Zen isn't considered a religion. and does not propose to tell you what to do. The main goal of Zen is to help you to develop a level of self-awareness and natural understanding of your life and all that composes it. By being more aware of your actions and your automated responses you are able to release your preconceptions and find a deeper meaning for your life.
A principal aim of living a Zen lifestyle is to improve your daily experiences by living in a heightened state of consciousness. Through this heightened state of consciousness one is thought to have achieved Zen and in particular Enlightenment. Enlightenment bears itself a heavy burden and is left open for interpretation. The very concept seems to suggest total lack of ego and self and will be left for each person to decide.
Daily meditation is included in the Zen lifestyle. There are many ways to meditate and many forms to help one achieve the desired Zen results of "living for the moment", achieving "clarity of mind" and trying to live a life of deep respect and compassion for yourself and everything around you.
To achieve Zen you must be diligent and not falter in your practices. The results will be a happier and a more fulfilled life.

What is Buddhism?
Buddhism is a religion which practices spiritual development and undertakes the task of gaining insight in to the true nature of life and reality.Buddhism is practiced by 300 million people the world over and among them there is a growing number of Westerners.
It is based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gotama who is known as the Buddha. Siddhartha lived about 2500 years ago and has set forth a doctrine of study that will likely live on for many thousands of years more.
Buddhism does not include the idea of worshiping one single god or creator. The basic dogmas of Buddhist instruction are direct and pragmatic: nothing is fixed or everlasting; actions bear consequences; change is achievable. It teaches basic and advanced methods of meditation to help you transform your lives and help to develop those qualities that will bring a level of compassion and wisdom.
Similar to Zen, Buddhism is more of a philosophy or 'way of life'. It aims to explain and give a purpose for our existence.
Its basic tenets include:
1. Live and lead a moral life,
2. Always be mindful and aware of your thoughts and actions.
3. Your life should be a journey to develop wisdom and understanding.

Most people will tell themselves that their ideal environment would be one that includes a picturesque natural setting. This may be true for some, but it is my observation that a lot of people would be more comfortable in a chaotic setting.
Be honest with yourself and accept that which you are. This is how you begin your path of self discovery.

Meditation For Developing Spiritual Awareness
Powerful in it's simplicity.......

Start by taking several deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.
1. Breathe as a baby would, by filling your abdomen with air so that it protrudes outward. This will be a trigger for all your future meditations. This is a way to tell your body and mind that it is time to relax.
2. Feel the clothes on your body. Feel the pressure they place on your skin. Feel the glasses on your face, feel the shoes on your feet.
3. Listen to the sounds all around you. Listen to the birds chirping, children playing, cars driving, airplanes flying. Listen to all the sounds in your environment. Don't think about the sounds just listen to them.
4. Pay attention to any smells you notice. Sweet, pungent, offensive or aromatic. Just experience the smells and don't think about them.
5. If you are walking pay special attention to the sound your feet make as they contact the ground.
6. Notice everything in your field of vision. Don't identify what you see just notice everything in your field of vision. If you see a tree don't say tree in your mind. Just observe.
7. Try and hold as many sensory impressions as you can without thinking about them. The more you can focus on at one time the greater your experience will be.
At first this will be difficult for you to do but with time you will get better at sensing your environment. This exercise will help to silence the endless amount of thoughts you have running through your mind.
You will begin to tap into your subconscious mind and begin to experience the world as it really is. Not what your mind is constantly telling you it is. Not what you have been conditioned to believe it is.
Here is your chance to experience reality as it really is. Here is your chance to expand your mind and break free from all your self-limiting thought patterns. You will awaken your multi dimensional consciousness and realize the true powerful being that you truly are.
Be forewarned, this will produce profound effects. Do not be frightened. You are beginning to lift the veil of illusion that has clouded your mind since birth.
