Drop the Act - THE HAPPINESS ADDICTION
Ranked #21,349 in Culture & Society, #437,732 overall
OUR STAND
YOUR DENIAL is the beginning. The opening act on another struggle. Some of you who see this attempt to start distancing yourself from even the thought - thinking if you make your world small enough no one will know how addicted you are really. Shrinking your world is another lesson learned, but not the final one. This lens is an organized presentation to get at the heart of happiness and addiction. Not the usual -type (as seen in movies), but people that have jobs, families and a problem - like YOU.
This lens is my stand for HAPPINESS not pain. It's a stand to look at pain and see where the edges of happiness can still be seen. This is about the boundaries between happiness and those other things that sometimes blur our vision of happiness and make us be a smaller, weaker selves.

- I figured why not put the whole tale of Jason's battle with drug addiction into print here, where folks can get a better idea of who Jason truly is and maybe why he fell victim to heroin abuse in the first place. I'm thinking it's gonna be at least a four-parter, and I'm hoping to wrap it up by April 6th, the day Mewes celebrates his "Sober Birthday", when Jay will mark his third straight year of living completely drug and alcohol free.

- Internet addiction disorder (IAD) is a theorized disorder coined by Ivan Goldberg, M.D., in 1997. It is compared to pathological gambling as diagnosed by the DSM-IV. Dr. Goldberg, along with Kimberly Young, Psy.D. are currently lobbying for the inclusion of IAD into the DSM-V, the next edition of the DSM, which would open the doors for insurance companies to pay out for Internet addiction counseling. However many others argue that IAD is not an actual disorder and should not be classified as a mental disorder in DSM-V.
