Effective Charity Assessment - Effective Love
Another word for charity is LOVE! Our local charities are normally the ones we know and trust the most, because we know about what they do in our community as their mission. We tend to donate to our local charities more because we know what they do with the money. We know how our communities are helped by them. Or we will support a charity that our local church is promoting, because we know their mission and reputation. Effective Charity Assessment is not a new subject, but it is one that needs to be taken in a new direction according to charities and the giving public. There are so many fake charities that spend the money on employees, staff events, new cars to drive and paid in full vacations. Little of the money ever goes to a worthy cause in some cases. Many people will form a charity and make the name sound as familiar to a well known and worthy charity as they can. - It fools people into thinking they are contributing to a well know charity, when it really is nothing but luxury for some people.

I believe it is too easy to form a charity. I could do it! I just would not have the conscience to do something like that to make money. People do though.
We are being warned to watch out for scammers in the Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN regions. The effects of the Red River spilling its banks will long be felt by people. There are local charities that can be trusted to donate to: American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and United Way. - These three charities are not accredited with the BBB and the spend more than 10% for employee's payrolls.
If you know of a family that has lost everything in a disaster, there will be a fund set up at State Bank and Trust or other banks where you can donate to individuals. All of your money that you donate will go to those individuals and not to employees who work at charities. - Its up to you, I encourage your giving, but decide wisely! ~
What an 'effective charity assessment' must ask themselves...

It is required that a Charity ask themselves, "How well are we doing to fulfill our mission?" The standards are high to be an accredited charity in the US. Charities must meet all 20 of the Better Business Bureau Standards for Charity Accountability.
Effective Charity Assessment is essential especially if you are a contributor that donates your money and time to charity. If, you do, I commend you for being a giver and for doing good! May your pockets always be over-flowing.
Maybe you have it on your heart to volunteer your time or donate your money to a charity and you just need some more information about local charities in your area. Dare to care, but do an assessment first if you are not sure of accreditations. It will make you feel even better knowing you have chosen wisely.

Ask Those Local Charities or other Charities some questions.
Q. "If I can't find a charity listed online with the BBB, does that mean it is not a good charity?"
A. "Not at all. There are over one million charities in the USA, and many of them are not listed with the BBB Online."
Q. "How do I know if a charity is for real or not?"
A. "Get the charities contact information, and then contact them and request a copy of it's most recent annual report and IRS Form 990. It should not take long to get these copies mailed to you if they are legit."
Q. "How can charities solicit donations from the public?"
A. "Public soliciting can only be done by charities that are tax exempt under the section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and other organizations."
Q. "Can I become a non-profit, tax exempt charity?"
A. "The requirements are slim to become a charity."
Q. "So, any scammer can become a non-fit, tax exempt charity?"
A. "Now, you got it! And, that is why I made this lens. The scammers are gearing up again as the holiday season approaches, because they know there are a lot of good people who love to give money for charitable causes during the holidays."

I had a phone call from a man who said he was a debt collector. He said that I owed AOL a debt. I responded to that as, "No, I really don't think so!" He gave up trying to collect from me very fast, and that is something a real debt collector doesn't do. I wonder where he would have wanted me to send the money.
Scammers come in many different masks and forms. Be aware!

I can't think of a better reason to be a giver, when I know that the children are our future. This is a picture taken the day that I first met my granddaughter Bailey. Yes, I cried!
