Inside mounting or Outside mounting - Essentially your blinds have two places they can be fit. If you want them to be inset in the window then you will need to purchase inside mounting blinds. This means the blinds will sit inside the window recessed from the wall. The advantage here is that if you have molding around the window you will end up with a very clean finish.

Outside Mounting Blinds mean they will mount outside of the recessed window frame meaning they basically cover the window from the inside of the house. The advantage here is that the blinds can completely cover the window and in the event you don't have decorative molding around the window you can make the window look like it has a nice finish by hiding the lack thereof behind the blinds.
