If You Want To Buy Used Cars Cheap Then Buy These

It's always interesting to know how used car prices are determined and if you can buy certain used cars cheap or not. In these crisis times there are especially two kinds of cars standing out as especially cheap:

- Cars with poor fuel mileage
- Luxury cars and sports cars that functions more as toys than vehicles.

With high and even increasing gas prices, cars with poor fuel mileage are not so high in demand. If you go inside any pawnshop you'll find plenty of customized up SUVs, Harley-Davidson Noise making motorcycles, turbocharged sports cars, the modified Camaro, etc.

If you want to purchase used cars cheap, here are a couple to look closer at:

Ford F-150

A new, top model of this Ford went for about $35,000 two years ago. In 2009 - or today - the trade-in value is less than $15,000. A V-6-equipped bottom-of-the barrel 2000 V-6 short bed you can purchase for less than $4,000 and that's a great deal.

Dodge Ram 1500 Long Bed

This Dodge Ram 2006 Dodge Ram model has a trade-in value of about $2,500 today. If you purchase it from a private person you can get it for around $5,000. It's hard to find a better deal than this today.

Buying Cheap Used Cars? Here are Some Tips

Purchasing cheap used cars that at the same time have decent qualities can be hard somtimes, especially when you don't have the necessary knowledge and lacks a listing of things to look for. This article will give you a couple of tips.

1 Let the Car you Consider To Buy Undergo an independent Inspection

The purpose of such inspection is to uncover negative details of the vehicle's condition or history are hidden or not mentioned by the seller, for example an major car accident repair. The output of this inspection is a report that you should base your purchase decision on. The options are

- the car's condition is the same as or even better than the seller told you
- the car's contition is worse than you were told

You can buy it, leave it or negotiate the price. In some odd cases the seller won't allow an inspection. Would you buy cheap used cars from this seller or turn your back to him or her?

2 Are there any signs of 'clocking'?

Another problem is the car's mileage reading. Can you trust it? What many sellers and cheap used cars dealers do is reducing the mileage of a car by turning back the odometer; aka 'clocking'. An independent inspection can uncover such fraud. If the car appears to be in a worse condition than the recorded milage is indicating, you should probably leave the seller and keep on searching for more decent cheap used cars.

Auto Repair Manuals

Many people who love automobiles - whether cheap used cars or even new cars - prefer to do their own repairs themselves rather than take their car to a shop. If you are an automobile hobbyist, then a resource such as a car repair instruction guide will come in extremely handy in situations of emergency.

Basically, you will find two types of car repair guides:

* Guides that can be downloaded from the Internet
* Readily printed guides

Car Repair Manuals on the Internet

The good thing about obtaining a car repair manual on the Internet is that there's one for practically all brands of car. Plus you can do the searching for one right at the comfort of your own home. Whether you want to learn the basics or the more advanced level, the best thing you can do is scour the Internet for a reliable car repair manual. This comes even more practical in emergency situations, when immediate tweaking of the car's engine is necessary.

These days, car repair manuals you can find and download on the Internet also include manufacturers' technical service info as well as their business hours. When the time comes you really need to take your car to a mechanic, at least you got a pretty good idea how much it's going to cost, and how long it's going to take before your car is in tip top shape once more. Of course, such manuals do not come without fees; but it's really worth it.

Just make sure that the car repair manual you're purchasing online is created by the competent mechanics of your car's manufacturer. You should see to it that the manual contains other valuable information like the original workshop specifications. That is why many professional mechanics always opt for ones that are reliable enough. It's easier for anyone learning car repair to use a manual with many pages of illustrations of the car parts, especially the ones that make up the engine.

Printed Car Repair Manuals

There are many great printed manuals you can purchase these days. However, the following are considered by many as the best ones. Read on and see which one suits your need best.

Bentley

* Considered by many authorities as probably the best car repair manual one can have, this is designed for those with a little background on car repair.
* Very detailed as compared to other manuals available.
* However, this manual mostly caters to owner of European car models.

Factory Manuals

The users of factory manuals are factory certified mechanics and not amateur mechanics. The required special tools specified in this manual are made available for authorized mechanics only.

Chilton Manuals

The Chilton manual contains detailed procedures and easy-to-follow methods for new or in particular used car repair. If you're an average mechanic, this manual is for you. It centers on the fundamentals of car maintenance and repair. It includes pictures and drawings that illustrate methods and procedures for convenience. The manual gets more detailed for new car models as opposed to older models where instructions tend to be more general.

Lowest Prices For a Used Car

Where Do You Find Them?

It's many years since low prices on a used car have been so much in demand as today, a demand most of us attributes to the economical circumstances the financial crisis has created. Although you can't expect to get this year's models at price like this, you can expect a safe car that are functioning normally.

Here are three sources of very cheap cars.

Government Auctions

Government auctions are my favorite source for very cheap cars nowadays. You might not find them the very first time you go there but sooner or later you will find a decent vehicle at a price you didn't think was possible.

Auction Web Sites

Online auction sites are probably the easiest and most convenient places to go when you are looking for the lowest prices on a used car. eBay is the biggest and most famous auction site, but there are many other sites that specialize in auctioning different items such as cars. The best car auction sites are updated with the newest cars every day. If you haven't been on eBay yet just enter 'cars' plus the amount you want to spend in the eBay search box and you will get a list of vehicles that meet your specifications. If you want to go to another site, just find a search engine and type in 'cars' and the amount, for example 'for $600 or less'.

Classified Ads

Another great source of cheap used cars to go to are classifieds such as Craigslist, Penny Saver and similar. A smart place to start is online where you can browse any classified site for free. when you see a cheap used car you are interested in make an offer to the owner and wait for reply. You have to be very careful especially when you buy vehicles so dirt cheap online since the seller in many cases will try to cheat you by removing certain parts from it, selling these separately to get even more cash.

If you want to protect yourself against the aftermaths of such fraud you should make a sales contract with all the appropriate terms signed by you and the seller. If you let a mechanic inspect the vehicle you are even safer, but for a car that cost less than 500 bucks, you cannot expect the world.

Be aware that the same rules apply whether you buy your vehicle at the lowest prices on a used car online or offline. So get a bill of sale printable form that both you and the seller sign.

You can purchase used cars cheap at a dealership. However, if you want to pay the lowest prices on a used car, I highly recommend that you click the last link before you go.
