Cheeks Blushing Reason #1

Embarrassment

Blushing is a normal human reaction and interestingly, humans are the only creatures who do in fact blush. Cheeks blushing can be caused by various emotions with the most common being embarrassment.

When people are embarrassed by something or someone, they often turn red. They may only slightly turn pink or they may turn the color of a tomato. I was one of the lucky ones who turned VERY red when embarrassed. This actually made the situation worse since I would think about it and worry how others perceived me so my redness remained for quite some time. For other people, this is not the case, they turn red, and get over it quickly.

Cheeks Blushing Reason #2

Anxiety

Blushing can also be caused by anxiety, nervousness or shyness. When a person has anxiety about blushing it can actually cause them to blush more often. When your brain is consumed by the fear of blushing, you make yourself blush when faced with the situation you fear. It could be meeting someone new, having to talk to someone you've met before, being in a large group of people etc. This form of cheeks blushing is the most disturbing since it envelopes a person's thought and causes them to actually fear the act of blushing. They often develop a phobia which is called erythrophobia. This can easily be treated.

Cheeks Blushing Reason #3

Rosacea

Another cause of blushing cheeks is rosacea. This is a medical condition which affects men and women around the world. People with rosacea not only have red cheeks they can have redness which covers their entire face constantly. This condition also causes people to have small red, acne like bumps that may crust or ooze. It is not triggered by emotions like erythrophobia and the causes are unknown. People with fair skin often develop this condition as well as people who blush easily. Women are more likely to develop rosacea though men are more severely affected by this cheeks blushing condition.
