Chicken Coops Plans

Ever since I can remember my house was like a zoo. Pets everywhere, cats, rabbits, mice, snakes, ducks... and of course Chickens. My family's love for fresh organic eggs lead our population of chickens to steadily grow over the past few years and we soon found that the chicken coop that we had originally purchased (way overpriced) just wasn't going to cut it any longer. I started out by pricing out several medium to large sized chicken coops online and after my search turned up dry for a good deal. After hours of frustration I turned my focus to chicken coops to build myself. Now I am no professional architect or handyman by any means, but in hopes of saving myself large sums of money I strapped on my tool belt and began my search of chicken coops plans.

I searched and searched and couldn't seem to find anything that fit the bill as far as my needs, hell, I didn't really even understand what I would need for the amount of chickens I had, and the amount of backyard space I had to play with. I continued on and on looking for chicken coops to build, I even attempted designing my own (I don't want to talk about it...). I was damn close to just giving up on the whole thing and just having one professionally made when a friend of mine told me about a book he had recently read, which walks you through the whole process from start to finish, from deciding which size and type of coop is optimal for your personal situation, to chicken coop plans for chicken coops to build. Needless to say I was incredibly skeptical as I usually am when it comes to these things, but since it was suggested by a friend I gave it a chance.

The next day I sat down at my computer and went to the website that he had suggested (here), and gave it a good read through. Normally I am very skeptical of buying anything online, but since a friend suggested it to me I went ahead and purchased the ebook (it has a 60 day money back guarantee, so there was really nothing to lose) and began to read. I was really surprised at the depth of detail that the book went into from start to finish and how user friendly the instructions were for everything including the chicken coop plans (my weak point).

I read through the book twice before I had refined exactly which size, design, and materials I would need for my personal situation. The next day I took a trip down the street to Home Depot and picked up the materials and tools I would need, printed out the chicken coop plans that I had decided on and began construction. It took about a day and a half to construct the full chicken coop and boy was I impressed when I was finished. I priced out a similar coop online when I was finished and found that I had saved myself about 700 dollars by doing it myself and investing the 30 bucks in this book. Overall it has been a great experience, I will certainly hold onto the book for future reference when my chicken empire grows further.

My Rating:

Price: 10/10 (Paid for itself...23 times :) )

Another great lens! 5 stars! I'll be in the market for a new coop this spring, and since you have turned me on to some great products in the past I'll be swinging through to pick this one up!
