I'm currently 16 and I've had KP for as long as I can remember. I thought it was just me cause everywhere i looked i saw flawless legs. I thought it was just a problem that I dealed with and got really depressed when i thought about it. I started thinking that it was a bunch of ingrown hairs a while ago, so I went to my doctor. she said it was kp but told me it would go away later. i dont just want to wait for it to go away, i want it gone now! it's so embarrasing and even though mine isn't very severe its still something that i impacts my self esteem. i'm going to invest in the products you mention. thank you for putting this up!

    Hi there,
I have KP only on my cheeks and i was wondering what part of your body you used the dcl aha lotion on. Do you think the 20% will be to harsh for my face? I've used some pretty harsh products on my face before with no problem (proactiv is the only thing that ever made me peel and it was minor).
    anyways,
    thanks alot

I have always had KP on my upper arms but since my pregnancy and delivery it has spread to my lower arms, buttocks and thighs. Has there been any mention that this is a hormonal thing?

My daughter and I both have it, have since birth. I have tried many things to help clear it up, I have noticed that it gets better, almost disappears, with sun exposer. The best help I have found, and relatively cheap, is Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Hemp Peppermint Pure-Casle soap! I had a pretty bad outbreak on my arms and with one use in the shower it was almost comepletely cleared up!!! The stuff is amazing and all natural!

Mine is not as bad as those pictures above (I'm at least thankful for that) but It greatly lowers my self esteem. And being a teenager right now, it's really hard. Thank you so much for all this information, and at least I know it's not just me with this horrible disorder. I think I got it from my father, and all my brothers and sister has it too. ;-; What a horrible curse. I'm still hoping for a cure someday, even with what they're saying! Goodluck everyone. :)

My husband was recently diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and we radically changed our diet to include massive amounts of fruits and veggies and we also supplement with omega 3's (flax & fish) and vitamins. Both of us had KP and it has almost completely gone away. Just wanted to let you know that diet really did work for us. We weren't even trying to deal with the KP--it was just a nice side effect!

I finally discovered a name for it, thank you. I was worrying I may have had something much worse. My skin is pale but pinkish, due to these tiny red even purply pin point dots all over. Areas affected-legs (upper leg/front of thigh) are the most affected-like hardly any spacing between each dot. So many. Is that normal? I see others have more space between. Also, backs of arms. Glad to see it is not so freakish after all. Good luck to us all.

This has alot of great info...thank you!
My daughter has had it since infancy. She is now 15 and it is worse than ever -- the bumps are larger & redder and are completely covering her upper arms. We've tried AmLactin 12% with little success but will try something stronger now.

(Re: Stephanie's post: I don't think weight has anything to do with it -- my daughter is 5'4" - 105 pounds)

I have had KP since I was born. Initially it was only on my left arm, but very severe. I have spent countless hours with dermatologists and have used just about every product known to man. Every doctor I saw advised me that the condition would go away when I'm in my thirties. When I was in my teens it spread to my face, but I found that exfoliating daily (I use Saint Ives exfoliator) and a good cleanser (soap will dry your skin out and make it worse) cleared it away within months and have kept my face clear of KP. I'm now 24 and within the last year the KP has spread to every part of my body except my stomach, feet, face and hands. It is true that unless you are constantly taking care of your skin it will worsen and I find that mineral body scrubs (Nature's Heaven makes good ones www.nhdeadsea.com)followed by NeoStrata Body Lotion with glycolic acid works best. Some may find the scrub too rough for their skin and a gentler body scrub should do such as Biotherm's Aquathermale.

Your site is wonderful. I had no idea that what I have is a skin condition. I have KP on my upper thighs and hat to wear shorts because of it. The best thing is that I bought MSM today for something else and am going to try taking it for the first time. It's great that the MSM may help with the KP in addition to joint care! Your site is great. Thanks a lot!! :>D

This site was helpful. I've suffered with KP for as long as i can remember! Its everywhere! My upper and lower arms, my thighs and calves i'm convinced its on my face and oh man... my bum too! I've soaked, scrubbed, rubbed, and cried with hardly a result. At least i'm not the only one out there... I'm glad people write about their success with dealing with KP cuz it gives me hope and motivation to keep on tryin. Does anyone know if its better to be vegan? And I'm not obese but would it help to lose weight? Every over weight person I know has this condition, I realize its common but how come none of my thin friends have it?

    Hi Rita,

Thanks for the nice comms. AHA is super for KP. To answer your question, I've never used topical MSM. I basically tried AHA and stuck with it. I would always recommend MSM tablets because they actually work.

    Thanks again :)

Your site is a great resource,
I've had KP for years on my upper leggs without knowning its name. i've tryed all the common acne treatments with limited success. I've very excited about trying the AHA lotions.

Have you looked into topical MSM treatments at all?

No problem Roxanne. I have KP on my legs and arms. It can be a frustrating thing to deal with, I know. You can make it a lot less troublesome though. Try a couple products I've talked about on this lens and give it a little time before you see a difference.
