Sound Fundamentals Can Cure The Chipping Yips

There are just too many people out there giving advice on curing those chipping yips. Heck, I even tried chipping left handed (I am a righty golfer). What finally CURED MY CHIPPING YIPS was to just get back to the fundamentals. Make your practice swings instinctive. If you didn't have range time before teeing off try this quick exercise suggested by the famous golf coach Hank Haney. Stick a tee deep in the grass and swing so you clip the tee out of the ground. There's no ball, so you'll find you get really good at clipping the tee. Your mind is on the stroke and rhythm, not on the ball. You will be amazed at how quickly this easy drill helps your chipping skills.

Chipping In Golf Is Like Tendons In Your Body.

I know that sounds weird, but chipping in golf is the connective part of the game. If you have tendon or ligament weakness in your knees it will make walking difficult and painful. The same holds true for chipping. If your chipping is weak, it could make the results of a good drive and decent putting still a bad score. It is the glue that connects all the parts of your game.

Golf Chipping Lessons Pay Huge Dividends

Why do the PGA pros spend much of their range time applying golf chipping lessons? Because they know the short game will be major factor to reaching the top of the leader board. Since I have gotten serious about practicing my chipping my scores keep getting lower and lower. If you notice the picture on the right, this is where my chips usually land now (I wish). But, I now one putt after a chip more often then not.

Golf Chipping Drills~Do They All Work?

Here's the thing about all the myriad of drills out there. Nearly all of them will work, but only with practice and reinforcement. This is why I am a proponent of buying an online program that will motivate you to practice these drills and you have them available when it is convenient for you to practice. Here is a quicky drill you can use at the practice putting green before teeing off. Place a wooden tee deep in the grass and swing so you clip the tee from the ground. Because there is no ball, you get really good at clipping the tee. The mind is now on the stroke and rhythm, not on the ball.
