View Verse of the Day
Back to the blessed old Bible
Back to the city of God
Back to the oneness of heaven
Back where the faithful have trod
Back from the land of confusion
Passing the wrecks and the creeds
Back to the light of the morning
Jesus our Captain leads
Back to the blessed old Bible
Saints of Jehovah rejoice
Jesus is calling His people
Back to the land of their choice
Often our fathers have sought it
While we in Babel abode
Now we have found the fair city
Church of the living God
Back to the blessed old Bible
Leaving confusion and strife
Fleeing from Babel to Zion
Back to the joy of our life
Over the mountains we wandered
Looking in vain for the right
Now in the evening we've found it
Truth of the gospel light
Back to the blessed old Bible
Back at the Master's call
Back to the words of our Savior
Loving, obeying them all
Never in sects to be scattered
Never again to do wrong
Unity, holiness, heaven
Ever shall be our song

32 Bibles
Why so many?
32 Bibles you can read online.
My first adult Bible was the Scofield Reference Bible 1945 copyright version. The Scofield bible is simply a King James translation with theological and explanatory foot notes and Indexes including a subject index, concordance, and indexed map atlas of areas referenced in the bible.
The authors divided the themes of bible into 5 sections, the fifth and most important is: The central theme of the Bible is Christ, God manifest in the flesh.
I got my the basics from my Scofield bible.
The body of believers that I now have joined with use the New International Version, NIV, during worship and bible studies. The NIV is translated using an easy to read English style. A lot of people like it for that reason, a lot of people don't like it for that reason. The translation is called the New International Version. How come there's no old international version, or at least a plain 'international version'? So, now I'm thinking the authors chose 'New International Version' as the name because it would sell more books. Yeh, I know, so what.
The KJV Only crowd thinks the NIV came from the devil or at least his assistants. They think that some of the original translators were unbelieving perverts. My advice to one and all is to not get involved in the confrontation, this discussion does nothing to build up the body of beleivers of "the Word made flesh".
Several years ago, while browsing a book store in the bible section, I came across a copy of the Holman Christian Standard Bible, copyright 2003. From the introduction, these are the goals of this translation:
to provide English-speaking people around the world with an accurate, readable Bible in contemporary English.
to equip serious Bible students with an accurate translation for personal study, private devotions, and memorization.
to give those who love God's Word a text that has numerous reader helps, is visually attractive on the page, and is appealing when heard.
to affirm the authority of Scripture as God's Word and to champion its' absolute truth against social or cultural agendas that would compromise its' accuracy.
I like the HCSB a lot. I think you will, too.
Here is the link to the HCSB. You can read the whole HCSB, including the introduction, on line.
This is the HCSB that I use. Buy it Here
HCSB with Scofield notes. WoW!
This is a leather bound volume.
Two other Bibles you may have an interest in. The first is the World English Bible and the second the Easy English Bible.
The World English Bible. You can choose from 14 download formats or read the Bible online. This Bible was produced so the world could have a free Bible, no copyright, but with some restrictions concerning free use.
The Easy English Bible is unique in that it is written using a 2800 word vocabulary. Its' target audience is people who use English as a second language or people with learning disabilities. It is published by the nice people of the Wycliffe Associates UK. The web site has study materials to go with the EEB and skits for mentally challenged.

The Word became flesh.
Everything leads up to this event or follows from this event.
My reference will be the online version of the HCSB. It is so handy to use. Click on any verse link and the verse comes up with foot notes under and under the footnotes are the references and cross references, so cool to use.
So, let's get on with it. May I suggest that all of you that have a tabbed browser, have several tabs reserved for this Bible search. One for the HCSB.
One for the 32 Bibles you can search online. And one for the links that I suggest.
First off, the Word made flesh was slain before he was made flesh. Rev. 13:8. tells us that the Lamb was slaughtered (crucified) before the foundation of the world.
The Word made flesh was promised to Eve (all of us) after the fall. This is the beginning of the trail that leads to the Word made flesh in John 1:14.
I found this LINK for you. This is a large page, it has the genealogy of Joseph, his stepfather, and Mary, the chosen vessel. There is a lengthy discussion of the legal status that was necessary to convince the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. Contributed By Arthur C. Custance (http://custance.org). My opinion is that the Gospel given to Matthew served this need very well.

The Miracle
Do you have your tabs (Bible.com and BibleGateWay.com) all set up? Good, let's get started.
John 1:14, HCSB, The Word became flesh and took up residence among us.
We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14, KJV, And the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Use the HCSB tab you opened and read John 1:14 and the footnotes, then check things out using the cross references.
Clicking on the cross references opens the referenced verse and gives more cross reference verses. This process repeats until you get the clarification you seek.
Now, there is a bonus when you use BibleGateWay.com, a link at the top of the cross referenced verse, says: "View commentary related to this passage". Clicking the link will bring up "Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible" for that verse.
Use just three tabs, Bible .com, BibleGateWay and this Lens to do in depth Bible research all day. OK, you don't really need to have my lens open, you can investigate any web page using Bible.com and BibleGateWay.com.

Restoration Movement
Stone-Campbell
For you newbies. The restoration movement is/was an attempt to bring the New Testament Church into the present; which was about 1800 when it was started. The goal was to overcome the divisions brought on by Protestantism. The founders were well intentioned men. They made up slogans such as 'Not the only Christians, but Christians only', 'The Holy Bible is the only guide for life. When the Bible speaks on a subject, conduct our lives in a manner to abide by what the Word says. When the Bible doesn't speak on a subject you can let your conscience be your guide'.Shortly after the first meetings were held to solidify the movement, they began to splinter. Today the restoration movement is just another group of Protestant congregations. The different congregations in the restoration movement deny that they have fallen back to 1600, but their preaching and teaching tells the story.
Paul taught and preached Jesus Christ and Him only. Today we get Bible studies. Which is all well and good, except they most times are not studying Jesus Christ. They are about being good and doing good so you won't lose your salvation. That's gross.
The restoration movement has moved into 17th century protestantism in other areas. For instance, preaching Calvinism and Arminianism both unknown to the first century church. Preaching on these subjects will return the believer to slavery.
Helpful people.
You help them they help you.
These are people I have encountered during my business endeavors.
Who's a Christian, anyway.
I am, I don't know about the rest of you guys.
I begin this module with this link. Here is a very large web site with links to other large web sites all describing 'Christianity'.
You will read along until you get tired of the mess and if you are like me, in any way, you learn that the authors of the web site think you only need to call yourself a christian to be a Christian. Everyone who believes that raise your hand. :)
Ask everyone, "Are you a Christian"? And get answers like this, "Yes, I'm a Mormon"., "Yes, I'm an Adventist"., "Yes, I'm a Jehovah Witness"., or Christadelphian or whatever, the web site has a very long list. Shouldn't you need, at least, to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, that Jesus Christ is the propitiation for sin? To have the right to call yourself a Christian?
How about believing, Jesus is the Word that became flesh, Justification by Faith or I was born again, Jesus is my Savior.
