History of Christiansburg
The town was named after a man named William Christian who lived from 1743 to 1786. He was born in Staunton, Virginia. He was a politician and a soldier who fought in battles against native Americans. He was killed in a battle with the Wabash Indians in southern Indiana.

The town was incorporated on November 10th of 1792.
