Christmas Crafts for Kids

Fun & Exciting Christmas Crafts For Kids

Merry Christmas! I have always wanted to tell thousands of people that at one time! I love this time of year I am a very "crafty" person so I am always looking for great Christmas crafts to do with my kids,I have bought tons of books in the past but for the last couple of years I have turned to the internet. This year there is tons of Christmas crafts everywhere but I would like to see them all in one place instead of having to peruse allot of different sites going through all the crafts others choose are the best to find a few good ones. Another thing is the skill levels are all over the place when I am looking for my kids I want to find easy crafts for them to do. I am hoping you find this lens easy to navigate to find exactly the skill level and fun project you and your kids can enjoy this year.

Some projects I find easiest are the ones you can make in under an hour that only require one or two materials to make, like snowflakes or construction paper Christmas trees. Of course the older kids would love stuff like marbleized ornaments or hand made Christmas cards. I always ask my kids what they are in the mood to make then we go in search of some ideas of good projects for them. I personally love anything that involves beads, surprisingly there are quite a few easy beading projects for kids, one I love is stringing beads on pipe cleaners to make into bell and tree shapes for hand made ornaments, grandparents just love getting these in the homemade Christmas cards every year.

Making home made presents is a wonderful way to teach your children the value of giving this time of year and everyone love that personal touch, especially from the heart. So please look around, pull up a chair and grab your craft bags because I want you to be able to find everything your looking for right here. Happy Crafting and Merry Christmas!

Christmas Paper Ornaments

Great to spruce up a window or spin in midair

Our daughter is highly allergic to evergreen trees of any kind. So we decided that we were not going to have a real tree this year. We went to all the normal places you go to look at artificial trees but they all looked, well, fake.

We were at a total loss so I turned to the Internet. Well I came across some ideas for making paper trees. One of these was how to make a handprint Christmas tree. So this year we have a beautiful paper Handprint Christmas tree hanging on our living room wall.

Well you can't have a Christmas tree without ornaments. So we decided on making those out of paper as well. This is how:

PAPER ORNAMENT: Cut two 12-inch strips, two 10-inch strips, and one 8 3/4-inch strip. Line them up in this order: 12, 10, 8 3/4, 10, 12, with one set of ends even. Staple this end. Line up the other ends evenly (bending the outer strips as needed) and staple.

PAPER HEART: Cut two 12-inch strips and two 9 1/2-inch strips. Line them up in this order: 9 1/2, 12, 12, 9 1/2, with one set of ends even. Staple this end. Now bend the unstapled ends into a heart shape, so a small heart lies inside a larger heart. Align the ends and staple together.

PAPER TEARDROP: Cut two 12-inch strips, two 10 1/2-inch strips, and one 9-inch strip. Line them up in this order: 12, 10 1/2, 9, 10 1/2, 12, with one set of ends even. Staple this end. Next, make a crease 1 inch from the unstapled ends of the 12- and 10 1/2-inch strips. Finally, align the ends of all the strips and staple them together.

You can also use the paper ornaments to dress up a window or spin in midair from a light fixture or a ribbon. To hang each, knot the end of the gold cord and place it between the loose strips of paper at the top. Staple it all together.

You will need

  • About 20 to 30 cut out green construction paper hands, your kids hand prints are great for this project.

  • A few scraps of red construction paper.

  • Some really good glue.

  • A 12 inch strip of any bow ribbon you like.

Instructions:

  1. Lay down one hand and put glue right in the middle of the palm, line up the thumbs of the hand and glue together, keep going untill you get to the end and have a circle. Be careful towards the end to make sure the fingers are in front of the first hand or it gets confusing.

  2. Cut the red scraps into small circles and glue them on around the center in clusters of 3 to look like holly berries.

  3. Make a bow and glue it to the top.

  4. you may decorate this any way you like such as adding small ornaments to the bottom or gluing on pine cones instead of the holly berries.

This project is very simple to do. Our nine year old made a wreath all of her own. Kids just seem to love tracing there hands so this is great for kids of all ages.
