Some People Are SO Hard to Shop For!

So, your sister already owns an Ipod, a Wii, and every other electronic gadget on the market.

Grandma is set with everything she needs and really can't use another blanket, sweater, or pair of slippers.

Your neighbor always brings you a gift, but you are stumped as to what you could give her that she would appreciate.

Here are some ideas that you may not have thought of to help you with those hard to buy for people.

Refrigerator Art of the Month Club

If you have children you have art! If you don't have children you have to be a little more creative to give this gift.

To give the gift, print a certificate from your computer for "The Refrigerator Art of the Month Club." On the certificate explain that the recipient will recieve a new piece of art for their refrigerator every month on a certain date.

You can include a magnetic frame for the art work, or maybe a few refrigerator magnets to hold the art in place.

Be sure to include the first edition! If your child is old enough to sign their name be sure they sign it in the lower right corner just like a real artist. You can write the date on the back if you'd like.

Every month a week or so before the installment date be sure to mail or deliver the next edition.

Collect the artwork from drawings and projects your children do at school, preschool, daycare, Sunday school, or at home.

To make the gift even more special the recipient may want to take a picture of their refrigerator every month to show the changing art work and either email or mail the picture to the young artist.

If you don't have children you can draw your own pictures, write poetry or a letter of appreciation (or both), use photos you take yourself. Get creative! The idea is to send a new gift every month that the recipient will appreciate and enjoy.

Personalized Medical Journal

This is a great gift for elderly gift recipients, someone who battles a chronic medical condidtion, a family with several children, or someone who is very health conscious and likes to keep careful track of thier medical care.

To make this gift download these forms. Print as many as you need for each person. [Hint: To personalize this gift even more print extra copies of pages that the recipient may need.]

Use a three-hole-punch to make holes in the pages and insert them into a three-ring-binder. The flat, lightweight, cardboard kind works best because they are easily portable.

Decorate the outside of the folder if you'd like and include a label that says "Medical Journal for [Patient's Name] [Year]".

If you are making the journal for a family member you may want to fill in the information for them. This is especially helpful for elderly family members.

The gift recipient can take this folder with them to their Dr. appointments to make filling in medical information easier.

If the folder has a pocket, they can carry a copy of their Medical Power of Attorney, Advance Directives, and Living Will to give to the Dr.

Use These to Decorate Your Medical Journals

Domain Name & Web Hosting

The person who has EVERYTHING may not own their own domain name yet!

Register their own name (PaulaFarris.com, for example) or if that is already taken register something like ThePaulaFarris.com, or TheOneandOnlyPaulaFarris.com, or PaulaFarrisofArizona.com.

You could also register a .net, .org, .biz., .name extension.

Or you may want to register something fun like JohntheRockClimber.com, SarahtheCakeDecorator.com, or HeathertheNewMommy.com Get creative and you should be able to come up with a unique gift for everyone on your list.

To present this gift you could make a certificate on your computer that says "You Are the Proud Owner of the Domain Name [Name That You Registered!]

If your recipient actually chooses to use the domain name they will need Web Hosting for it. A Domain Name won't work without hosting. (Ask me how I learned this! :-)

Many domain name registrars offer free hosting when you register a name with them, but they will put ads on the webpages that are hosted there.

Here are two reliable, inexpensive sites that offer web hosting. I have been satisfied with both of these companies.
