Save Money on Christmas Gifts

If you would like to save money on Christmas gifts this year, it doesn't mean that you have to skimp by giving cheap gifts. Learn to make the most of the money you do have by maximizing your shopping strategy. Coupons, handmade gifts, and stocking up keeps the Christmas deals going year after year.

Keep your packages plentiful and your stockings stuffed to the brim with these easy and helpful tips for creating a less stressful holiday...

Same Gifts, Less Cost

Use those coupons!

1 Gift Cards
Buy several throughout the year for the retailers that you know YOU will be shopping at. Purchase smaller increments to save for last minute gifts. It's a simple method to spread the cost of Christmas throughout the year and not be hit hard all at once.

2Hoarding
Every January, I purchase all of my wrapping paper, decorations, and toys, clothing, games, etc that I know will make great gifts. Hoarding stocking stuffers is also a way to cut the extra holiday costs.

3 Online Shopping
Sometimes the only way to find a coupon, and many retailers offer free shipping during the holidays or online-only promotions. You can also compare prices quickly between retailers this way whether you choose to purchase online or in store. Have a list of gifts and the best deals before you get into your car.

4 Rewards
Use those credit card or banking rewards wisely. Any leftover points you have can be used for this Christmas, and new points gained from this year's purchases can be saved until next year.

5 Early Birds
Don't rely on last minute savings because the deals don't exist. Every year around November, I watch the price of things go up quickly and continue to rise. You can wait as long as you want for something, but chances are it was WAY cheaper before Christmas. Now, the rush to get the best deal on purchases is limited...

Other ways to cut costs

Christmas Savings More for Less

LED and Solar Christmas Lights
Keep your utility bills low by using less wattage during the holiday season. Winterize your home to keep the cool air out to leave more gas in the tank.

Hand make personal gifts
Share your talent with your friends and family and create something personal. It can be painting, sewing, crocheting, designing tree ornaments, etc. I always include a small personal creation along with my gifts to add memorable value as well.

Print your own Christmas cards
Not necessarily using your own printer, unless you've calculated the costs of ink and paper to be cheaper. Use a photo printing service to create unique cards.

Using photo printing services, you can also create keepsake boxes, large prints to frame, ornaments, etc for a reasonably priced personal gift. Order in one shipment to save on shipping costs.

LED and Solar Lights

Less power, but more light! The selection of Christmas LED and solar lights gets better every year, and these help to lower your electricity bill...

Family Recipe Book -
Collect recipes from every member of the family, and include their picture and a short bio to create a very memorable book.
