Therefore this holiday try something different by planning some exciting games for the children instead of the usual gifts that you plan of. This way the children will not only get your much needed time and attention but also improve their social skills.
Some of the games you can try are:-

* Winter olympics is one game that will help the kids to enjoy and interact while making most out of the winter season. You can always set time limit within which the children have to make snowballs and the one who does this successfully wins the gold medal or chosen prize for that particular round.

* After this you can create a homemade dart board or bull's eye and ask the kids to queue up and hit the target with their respective snowballs. The one who hits the maximum number of prize is claimed the winter olympics winner.

* For the leftover snowballs, as an end of the games you can always ask them to build their own snowman out of those snowballs.

* Once indoor you can go for indoor games and popular board games. You can also call it a ''last year's game night'' and thus make an excuse to bring out the games played during previous year's christmas and then make your progress in them this year. This will keep the children occupied till the new toys and games are distributed. Often on the kids rediscover their old favorite games and find some game they had forgotten all about while it was stored away.

In between you can serve healthy hot cocoa drink and christmas cookies as you warm up near the hearth and sing christmas carols to make the christmas a pleasant and memorable experience.
