Claremont Farmers Market Every Sunday Morning

Once a month I have a spot reserved at the Artisans section of the Claremont Farmers and Artisans Market. Claremont is the city just east of La Verne, CA where I live. The market is Sunday morning from 8am to 1pm, rain or shine. If it rains the artisans do not set up. The vendors with fruits, vegetables and flowers brave the rain. They all have the canopies for cover.

I enjoy doing the local farmer's market. There are eight spaces for the artists and all of them are the most positive people. The artists rotate with a few being there every Sunday. The artisan portion of the farmers market is organized by Kathy Spear a very capable record and assignment handler. Everything is professional and well thought out. I have met so many friends with this monthly endeavor.

All the artisans display and make their own creations and live in the area. When purchasing from the artist you will be sure to have an original creation, a work of art and a special attention piece that will enhance and brighten your home. If you need a special gift come by to pick a OOAK treasure.

Some Local Goods You Will Find

If you live in the Claremont, CA area and have not visited the local farmers market it is a good morning stroll. Many times music is included. The last week I was there Appalachian songs by a fiddler was very enjoyable. Books are offered on donation basis for a nonprofit.

Almost every week you can get succulents and potted landscaping plants. Every week buy cut flowers, honey, nuts, herb olive oil, fresh fish and Mediterranean humus and pita chips. The vendors fill both sides of the street for one block.

Look for me under the bright green umbrella.

My Little Space of Color Under the Bright Green Umbrella

Claremont Farmer's Market
At the east end of 2nd street at Yale is the artisans, books, fish and humus. Also at this corner is the Starbucks with the outdoor tables and huge sycamore trees on the north side of the street for plenty of shade. If I am selling you can see me under the bright green umbrella with my signature paper goods.

Past these vendors is the no dog zone because of health regulations. Many people bring their dogs for a walk on Sunday morning. All sizes, shapes and barks are in attendance on leash, of course.

My Paperfacets display is the handmade cards and paper goods I fold. My goods include bookmarks, 5X7 blank greeting cards, 4.5X5 blank notecards, a value at $2.50 ea. with white linen envelope.

I also have framed monoprints created at Kathy Spear's monoprint studio class.

The City now uses high quality yellow street barriers at all street entrances

Grocery Totes To Help The Environment

These are from Amazon

Please consider using totes for your groceries from the farmers market and the large grocery stores. It takes awhile to get used to having them handy but a few months later you will feel lost without them. They make me feel village French when my imagination goes wild.

Are Squidoo Readers Carrying in Their Shopping Bags

Do You Use Reusables Bags at the Farmer's Market?

Early in 2011 the County of Maui went to no light weight plastic bags. If you need a bag it is paper or very heavy weight plastic. It seems that the island's landfill is on the most windiest part of the county. Grocery bags were blowing and flying fouling areas near the landfill and the ocean. There was visible improvement in four months.

Shop Local Farmers Markets and Help the Environment

Many restaurants in the area are open for lunch and breakfast. SomeCrust Bakery is open and on the next corner is Rhino Records for new and used CD's. A long established 50's cafe is open early for breakfast on the sidewalk or inside at booths. Claremont is home to five colleges three blocks east and young people frequent the Market and Yale Ave.

Enjoy fresh shopping early or after church services any Sunday of the year.

Studies have suggested that buying from vendors at your local Farmers Market is a plus for saving green house gases. The small farmer's footprint is lighter because they live closer to the consumer.

Regular markets get their fresh foods as faraway as New Zealand and Chile.

Hey, great work. I'm puzzled why it doesn't go higher in the squidranking but my ranking you're working hard for great things. I lied on your poll about how often I shop farmers market, saying every week. You didn't have a choice every week (in season). Right now I'm missing farmers market, and I'm looking at how other lensmasters are treating farmers markets. I see you're a paper novelties artisan, and I like that. I've got lots of whacky ideas especially around reusing paper.

    Thanks for this lens!

I love a good Farmers Market...and you have me intrigued with the one in Claremont. I love talking to artisans and seeing how they made their craft...maybe I will pop up there one day. What's your schedule for the rest of the summer?

OMG, I am an old farmers market fan from way back ... you see, I think it comes from our European heritage ... my grandma worked for some 50 years at the West Side Market in Cleveland. As young-ones, we ventured there on the Rapid Transit to visit grandma at the market. An incredible memory or two ...
